These are located underneath the drivers side of my side steps. They have markings but for what I do not know.

That one is clocked to 422AA Yellow, you need to make sure all the rest of them are clocked the same or you may end up with a vibration.

I think they're dampeners. Spray them with Ospho to kill the rust.

^^^^ Agree, Dampeners to help reduce any vibrations resonating through the frame.

Wish I had a nickle for every time this has been asked, I would have a nice chunk of change.

Yep. If they cost money, they are there for a reason - back when the LX cars came out, they removed the hood struts and replaced them with a prop rod because it was $6 per car cheaper. Anything to save a dollar in the corporate budget.

A month after I got my truck mine were rusting like my drive shaft. I taped under carriage off and sanded down all rust spots and sprayed with a rust preventive and then sprayed black. I removed the weights and did the same and then reinstalled. 3 years later of New England driving with salt and look better than new! I also have my truck undercarriage sprayed with corrosion 3000. :happy107:
