Well today i went ahead and changed my oil. i went ahead with mobil1 5w 20 and a napa filter. while i was putting the oil back in I decided to empty my catch can. Glad i did, this is only the second oil change i have had done(4000 miles) and it was plum full. But after emptying it i noticed something that looked like and felt like sand at the bottom. heres a pic of it, im trying to figure out where it would have come from or if any one else has had this? im worried it might be from my k&n cai.

Hmmm...looks like fine dirt or sand. Is it gritty?

This is another reason to have one!

yeah its gritty just like sand, i took some of it and washed it with brake cleaner to make sure it wasnt metal shavings and it wasnt shiny or anything.

I need to get one of them. I bet it is from the air filter. Do you drive alot of dusty or dirt roads?

no doubt! I need to get one bad. this dry, windy West Texas climate has got to be a mess for my truck, especially since I'm running synthetic oil and changing it every 15K
