Is a catch can for these trucks with very few mods really beneficial? I just don't want to spend $140 on one if it's not really necessary. Thanks

Yes it is worthwhile for keeping the throttle body clean. Bt seems to be the most popular.

Plus it adds about 45hp to boot!

That's only if you get a yellow one...

They are beneficial in the keep oil "clean" and intake/throttlebody clean. It gives a place for oil and moisture to collect and keep the crankcase ventilation going back into the side of the throttle body and back into the engine.
best way to describe it would be a dust mask for your lungs while sanding.... not needed but keeps things "cleaner".

To me its worth the $$$ even though it doesn't add HP, makes for a happy motor

Not sure if its necessary but I did buy one and check it occasionally and do see some gunk in there so I would say it does work.

A catch can is a totally unneeded piece for a stock truck IMHO. If you really have to have one watch for a used you for 1/2 price in the ads here, you see quite a few used ones. I have one but only because I found a cheap one, I have dumped mine once after 6 months it had maybe 4 tablespoons of oil in it.

I empty mine at every oil change and usually it's about 1/4 full.

I don't know if it's the cold weather but my hemi in the winter will almost fill the catch can in under one oil change

Yes, you'll get a lot more condensation in the cold months which fills the can quicker.

Read this thread and decide for yourself. .. I vote yes on an OCC for the obvious reasons of just keeping all the oily junk out of the air intake ...

Hope this helps !

When my truck was new it barley had any blow by, had to empty it every 3-6 month and still only would be half full. Now that my truck has 55k and some really hard street and track abuse its half full or more every 30 days, so for me it was worth every penny.

I wish I could put one on my '03, not only for the obvious reason, but they cool too. Does anybody know if there's a way to bypass my internal system and add one? It sux having to check the throttle body blade.
