Looking for insight please. Second time this has happened. Made an appointment for dealer and of course the light went off. 2 days later, it is now back on. No real issues other than eco mode not kicking in. Truck is a 2014 with 29000 miles and of course just out of warranty. Guy at AutoZone said the U code had to be interpreted by Ram dealership, is that true?be2046d4af6f4994b2d68691e31febcc.jpgd37ddefbb218269b7a5597b56c3a5ea0.jpg

The U0140 is lost communication with BCM. It by itself will not turn on a CEL and is likely nothing to worry about. The P0520 is your issue, it’s common. Likely needs an oil pressure sensor.

Any chance this would be warranty covered under power train? I'm just outside my 3 years by 2 months go figure for bumper to bumper. Any damage if I drive on it for a week or so?

Sensors are usually only covered under basic warranty.

It’s easy to change. It’s above the oil filter. You will need a special socket though.

I had the same codes in my 2014. The 0140 code went away after getting a software update when taking the truck in for a recall. Also had the oil pressure code and simply replaced the sensor. Code was intermittent at first, but started to come back frequently so I changed the sensor. I didn't have a special socket. Just used a wrench and get it off. Sensor wasn't that expensive. I'm pretty sure there is a TSB for the oil pressure sensor as well

When the code popped, my oil pressure showed 99psi constant and ECO mode wouldn't come on

Bucks my pressure is at about 58 while driving and 38 at idle, no high readings for me. I'm not extremely mechanically inclined, is it an easy fix or do I have to remove the engine manifold. Does the stealership charge for software updates. Also, what exactly does a TSB mean

I had that same code! They told me that they just did a software flash and it was fixed. Dont stress about that error code. I have the same mileage and everything.

My pressure was similar to yours as well until the code would pop then the pressure read extremely high. Truck ran fine, just sensor was bad. I'll take a picture for you of the sensor. Just have to pop off the electrical connector and remove it with either a deep socket or just a wrench. You won't have to remove any other parts. It's a little bit of a pain to get too but nothing too hard. Just have to bend a little

I took my truck in for a recall but they did the software update since my truck was outdated. I didn't pay anything and am not under warranty with them.

Also TSB is technical service bulletin. Basically TSBs are released when there is a known issue but it hasn't reached recall status yet.... Basically it's not a safety hazard in their eyes. When a vehicle comes in with a certain problem, the issue is normally identified by the TSB as well as a fix

There's an updated sensor for the 14's,they are prone to give trouble.Mine went at 28,000 started to have a minor seep, and the pressure reading was slightly high. As stated easy fix,a box end wrench should fit the sensor if you don't have the proper socket.

Picture not the greatest but it's the brass looking nut above the oil filter. 6fd3c5cb03929ce0f5fae62a350aa471.jpg

Thanks buck I'll have to see if they can check my software, hopefully for free. Any idea what the part number is for the sensor tried googling it but want to make sure I buy the right part.

Mbright, did they flash for free or we're you still under warranty? I'm going to replace the oil sensor but curious if the flash will solve the U code

I use east coast moparts for the sensor. Just put in your VIN and you should be able to find your match.

Finally back in town, trying to replace it how the hell do you get it off. It's rotated in such a way I can't see any tabs, but I can tell there isn't a red slide tab like I've seen a few others mention.
