Hey guys, has anyone replaced the stock air box with an aftermarket cold air intake? What brand and any increase in performance?

There should be plenty of threads on this in this section as there are some good alternatives.

Us 6.4L owners, however, ain't so lucky.

You won't truly benefit from any cold air intake on these trucks unless you get a tune. These trucks run on a MAP system. Cold air intakes that produce a noticeable difference simply by installing them are for vehicles with MAF, not MAP. That being said, get an aftermarket intake, like the VaraRam, and a tune and you'll be happy.

Also the stock air intake is actually quite unrestrictive. I did multiple data logs to see if the stock one was inefficient and I compared all of my manifold pressure readings from the stock to the S&B and noticed the gains to only be in the 5300+rpm range. Anything down below was a complete wash. I just laugh to think people say their truck gets better fuel mileage after an intake swap. Smh..

I did and it honestly didn't show anything that I was looking for. Although I might not have been searching the right area.

When I first got my truck, I did get a k&n drop in filter(like we have in all our vehicles) and it did improve mpg's slightly but if you guys are saying a new air intake won't do very much, then I have lots of other things I can spend that money on! lol

You could spend it on a tuner, you will see a noticeable difference in performance. This will also give you the ability to maximize future upgrades

I put in the Volant intake, the filter last for 100,000 miles , and it has a scoop available for it if you would like some additional intake air :)

I had an S&B, it sounded cool. Not sure I noticed any power difference though.

Here we go again, I got an extra 125hp from adding mine:roflsquared:

Not convinced mine gave me any extra power or at least a noticeable change ?

You may be confusing an intake with a supercharger. The cost and install is a bit more involved my friend.

The OP is looking at CAI's ? :)

Proof!
It's not the size that matters. It's how you use it!!!
