So question any good or bad diff covers out there for our trucks? i saw the G2 ones that had 1/2 quart extra of fluid.

Im planning to dump the factory gear oil for some royal purple and i figured might as well swap the diff cover to let it run cooler and more oil.

I may sometime lower the truck but i dont think i will swap the sway bar on the rear.

Looking for recommendations.

Here is my recommendation.
Over a quart and a 1/2 more in fluid capacity.

If you put the Mag Hytec on a lowered truck you may have to notch the top of the cover. There was a recent thread about this. I put one on my 16 Sports 4x4 and had no fitment problems, however it is not lowered.

MAG cover, with hellwig sway bar, and adjustable pan. All fit fine. But yes like Jay said, depending on how low you go, you will need to notch that frame support or w.e that is for clearance. You can see above where he notched his.

So magtech would be the choice.

If i do lower it i would do the 2/4 max.

Appreciate the feedback.

There are other choices(cheaper)but IMHO I think Mag is the best.

The top of the differential cover does not, I repeat, does not have to be notched.
Look at my second picture I posted, look above the cover about 4/5 inches, do you see that frame brace that has been cut with a cutting torch?, that will have to be cut, on a lowered truck or a non lowered truck, unless you want to destroy your new cover.

My mistake--sorry. On my 16 which is not lowered and also has a Hellwig Sway bar, nothing had to be cut and there is sufficient clearance, even when the bed is loaded with suitcases and coolers etc.

Stock truck does not need to be cut..plenty of clearance and you will hit bump stop before you hit diff cover. And we knew what u meant jay lol

Thanks---I said the cover would have to be notched and that isn't correct--part of the frame brace has to apparently be cut---I don't want anyone to ruin their new cover.

I pull a utility trailer with two quads on it, the hitch weight is pushing 300 pounds, I didn't want to take a chance on any interstate/highway bumps.
Better safe than sorry 600 miles from home on a Sunday afternoon.
