Only through a tune or if someone reflashes the PCM and bypasses it. Either one, you can leave the EGR solenoid and piping on there or get block off plates. My 2005, I already had a tune, and when I got a EGR light, I had the tuner bypass the EGR through the tune and I just took it off and put block off plates. Unless it was in my head, It definitely felt like I had better throttle response when it was removed. At the same time one of my cats were rattling, so punched them out and used Bigdaddiesgarage honeycomb foolers, so that could have had something to do with better throttle response.
