I just replaced 2 not that long ago. My driver side top front and top rear heat shield studs were broke. I used extractor on one and welded a washer on the other then welded a nut to the washer and got it out that way. For money sake I just replaced the maifold (stock was warped) and repalaced the bolts. When I bought the truck previous owner said the passenger side was done and the heat shield is tight and no ticking.

The one I welded. If I had advice for anyone wanting to atempt this I suggest just welding to start with if you or a buddy can weld. I spent hours drilling just because I wanted to prove to myself I could do it and not mess anything up. It took 5 min to get the one out I welded. But I can say I did it.

I recommend visiting the dealer for proper diagnosis. To see exactly what is covered under your warranty please visit Ram Trucks Warranty - Pickup Trucks, Work Trucks & Vans. Thanks! – Kevin T, Social Connect Team

Are you guys changing the gaskets also, or just the bolts?

Shop tells me 2 of my bolts on my exhaust manifold are broken clean...and I need a new manifold and have them drilled out because it's making me run rich due to lack of back pressure.??

First...how much fuel will I be losing just by this?
Second...how common is this? They said it's very common on Rams.
Third...is this a MUST fix? or can I live with it?
Very common on 5.7L Hemi.
Sorry you are out of warranty, but you need to get this corrected.

LT Manifold- 5045485AC $135.79

Good info. The exhaust ports are the still the same, the manifolds are different but the port shape is the same, just for clarification if that wasn't clear.

I was looking to take my jba headers off and recoat them since they got all rusty. I might as well replace the gasket and throw stage 8 bolts on there. Those are the gaskets i should use correct?

From what I can tell, the only difference is in the left manifolds themselves. I pulled up the gaskets from three different sources and they all came up with the identical part numbers.

My 2011 hemi with 36k just had this issue. Dealer replaced manifold, broken bolts and gasket under warranty. It was the passenger side rear bolt/stud that attaches to heat shield that broke.

I want to replace mine before they break

Will those grade 8 header bolts work with the factory exhaust manifolds ???

And has anyone just brought there factory exhaust manifolds to there local machine shop and have them planed or resurfaced ???

I have a local machine shop that I just had my 71 Bee exhaust manifolds resurfaced at this past spring for a case of beer - They did an awesome job on 45 year old factory original manifolds for my 383 Magnum
