I know there are a ton of threads on here about efferent mufflers and exhaust setups available for your trucks. I am looking specifically for no drone in the cab. Sound and pitch are very subjective, and have been debated for years, but muffler can I swap in that is not going to drive me crazy on the highway. I appreciate your input, and thanks in advance!

I have a 2014 Dodge Ram Sport, which came stock with the not so true dual exhaust (only one muffler). But any ways, I got a Thrush muffler on mine (3'' in, 2 1/2'' out), with the resonators cut out. Once I hit about 2500 RPM, at a constant speed, it dies down and is smooth. A little more rappy then flowmaster, as Thrush was made to reminisce the older, classic cars. But its not bad at all. I was told that everybody was steering away from flomaster in the newer trucks, as they tend to sound more tin sounding, as I originally went in for Super 40s, or 44s. I couldn't make up my mind lol. But hope you find what your looking for!

I simply replaced the stock muffler itself with MF# 12588. It sounds great with a great rumble at startup and WOT while never, ever giving us a drone. Not even when towing our travel trailer with the rear slider window open.
My wife is SUPER picky, so I would have been told to swap it back if it was too loud or droned LOL
(I wish I could ride in a truck with an 18" just to hear the difference. Even more bark would be welcome, but not at the expense of drone which is why I played it safe, and don't regret it.

No muffler is not going to drone. I have the magnaflow 22 and it drones at 1800 2000rpm under load. But its tolerable. Tge 18 will drone more but i dont think it will drive you nuts like a flowmaster

If you are really trying to get rid of drone get yourself a helmholtz chamber added on for a cool 200.

My Mufflex 18" (DOD18M) sounds great on the highway (>65mph) but is a bit loud in the cabin between 25-30 and 50-60mph. I'm currently looking for a solution for that.

If you are really trying to get rid of drone get yourself a helmholtz chamber added on for a cool 200.

Been there, built that, it works, but only for a VERY specific range.
Then the temperature changes, and the length of chamber needed for the specific drone frequency changes, and the chamber is no longer effective.

Just saying...

I ran a 18" magnaflow with the factory resonators on my '11 Ram RCSB and it was wonderful. I rarely noticed just the slightest drone.

Exhaust is very subjective. To some it's drone to others it s just the exhaust. If you want to open it up but still be quite go for the 24 Magnaflow or the bolt In version by mufflex DOD24. If you want to hear it you'll always have some In cabin noise wether or not you consider it drone or not.

I agree with the mufflex 18. I have factory resonators and hardly no drone. Quiet when you want, aggressive when you stomp on it

Technically the factory exhaust drones. like stated its all subjective. for those of you that say the 14 or the 18 dosnt drone they you are just used to it, or enjoying the exhaust. everyone hears differently. I had stright turbo back catless 3" exhaust on my SRT4 and after a month i didnt think it droned and I could barley carry on a conversation. Too many factors involved.. bottom line the only way to figure it out is to open your wallet and test the waters. Or go to a meet (If there are any in this community) and take some test drives..

I really think the 8sp vs. the 6 sp plays a part in the drone.

I have owned both, with multiple exhaust setups. I have headers w/ full magnaflow catback now (no cats) and youd think the drone would be killer but its virtually non-existent. With my 2010 w/ 6sp, I got drone with just an 18" Mufflex, although minimal.

this is just my opinion and i could very well be wrong, so anyway - i feel that a lot of people confuse the different exhaust note when mds kicks in as drone. Also i agree that it is all subjective.
