Started my truck yesterday morning to go to work. Battery sounded weak. Got off this morning, same thing a little weak starting. Went to start it tonight and she was dead. Had the battery tested and only had 312 CCA. Original battery. Only 3 years old. Replaced battery and all is well. Anyone else have issues with these factory batteries?

Thought mine was a tad weak, had it tested at O'Reillys a few months ago. It tested good and strong, so I guess I'll stick with her a bit. Got a jump-starter for my birthday last month (the real kind that AAA carries, not the little lithium ion packs), so if it does die, I'm covered enough to get myself to an auto parts store (or home).

Batteries always seem to have a lot of variation in service life. Usage, temperature and just luck I think all have a lot to do with it. 3 years isn't terrible. I'd bet you're getting into the "meaty part of the bell curve" as George Costanza says (Seinfeld reference for those of you who aren't familiar).

Stock Mopar batteries are complete garbage. 2-3 years is about all you can expect to get. Right at 2 years the one in my '12 Wrangler took a crap. Jeep replaced it for free. Another 2 years and it died again. I replaced it with a Deka and it's been good since. My truck was the same. 2 years it was deadski. Replace with Exide at the end of 2014 and it's been good since.

Those mopar batteries rarely show signs of their impending doom. They just die. Suddenly. Without warning.

Batteries are like women  some last a long time and never give you problems , some are a royal pain and do not last :O so it is the luck of the draw! The battery in my 2011 HHR is factory and running strong even at 0*f and below ! My 2015 RAM so far is real strong as well at 0*f and below !
Also depends on if the battery was made on a Friday or Monday on how long they last lol

Yeah I pretty much had 1 day of noticing my battery was weak before the truck wouldn't start anymore. Pretty crazy. The factory batteries in my 2012 cummins never gave me any issues.

Wow that seems a little pre-mature! My old 04 Dakota still had the original battery in it when I sold it in 2014! Guess they don't make them like that anymore.

Still have the factory battery in my 2013. Still starts strong even in the freezing cold. Was planning on replacing this coming fall, so hope I make it.

My factory battery went from a full power start, to 5 minutes later couldnt keep the lights on in the truck a cell went bad in a short drive leaving me stranded 28 miles from home. Mine is a 2014 as well this was about 3 months ago.

That's what happened in my Jeep. Nice, powerful start, made a 30 minute drive. Go to start it when leaving and it wouldn't even click. Completely dead. Called CCC, they towed it and found the battery with dead cells. Replaced. 2 years later same thing. Started fine in the morning, completely dead at noon, bad cells. Then again in my truck.

Maybe I just have bad luck, but I'm not one to press it, so went with different brand batteries that I trust.

Makes me feel so what better. Mine just randomly gave up. Had it tested and only had 312 CCA. Installed new battery and had the charging system tested just to be sure. All is well.

Just replaced my stock battery today after taking it to the dealership for a few recalls and saw how surprised the parts manager was when he saw I still had the stock battery in there. After asking them to test it they informed me that it was pretty well close to the end that the stock batteries they install only last 2-3 years tops. He said I broke the record
