When is recommended to do the first change? I have about 2600 miles on my Rebel so far. Oil lifeometer says 70% left. Plan on using PUP, which this will be a first for me using Pennzoil.

Just curious if I should do one soon, or wait til the oil meter dings.

Thanks y'all.

I did mine at 2500 miles, well I got a free oil change so the dealer did it.

Edit: I would do it now since you ask. Then I would run that oil by your oil life meter atleast the first time and then send s sample out to have tested to see how its doing.

just my 2 cents.

Me personally, I would do it at 3k. But I'm a maintenance freak lol. Hell I did flushes and fluid and filter swaps across the board on my truck at 50k. Coolant, trans you name it [emoji23]. Again I'm a bit ridiculous with maint. I also plan on switching to PUP whenever I can talk the wife into letting me buy a new one ha

Here is something I saw on another thread. The build date of my truck was 10/16. I bought it 9/17. I ran it for 1500mi and changed it. I put Penzoil Platium Full Synthetic and a Puralator Boss Filter. Gonna change again at 5000mi and then start 7500mi probably using Penzoil Ultra Platium, but not sure what filter yet.

2000-3000 miles is where I change new engine oil. Just long enough for proper break in. Then get that contaminated oil out and replace it with something that's going to protect.

Cool. I'm going TDY for 5 weeks next Sunday, and in that time I'll put in about 1500 miles. So after that I'll be sitting around 4200 miles. Guess it'll have to wait until then. It'll be all highway atleast.

Usaf, o would put fresh oil in before I let the truck sit. Just my opinion.

It won't be sitting. I'll be driving home every weekend, racking up about 1500 miles or so.

I did my first at 1000 miles, but mine was a leftover 2016 that was a year old and I was actually more concerned about the paper filter.

i just got my first oil change at about 8000KM (5000 miles). lady at the dealership actually said that the initial oil change is really not needed unless the truck has been sitting at a dealership for months on end waiting to get sold
