Hey folks.
I purchased a 2015 Laramie 1500 with the FF 6 cyl. a couple of weeks ago and I am only getting 21 MPG on the highway running regular gas.
I know the window stickers are not accurate, but was wondering if this is what everyone else is getting.
Thanks

Give it some time. Most have seen a mpg improved after 5,000 miles. Mpg have many variables to contend with (rear gears, weight of truck, driving style, weather, etc.)
Make sure to handcalculate your miles to make comparisons. Most see the EVIC to be off anywhere from .5-2mpg.

If you use flex fuel you probably get worse mpg when compared to regular gas.

Good luck and enjoy!!

Yeah don't expect great mileage until you break the engine in. Same for everything with an engine. Once they're broken in they run better

I can get 21mpg on my evic with my hemi, actually got close to that with an empty tandem axle trailer for a ~150 mile round trip. Hopefully it improves for you after a bit.

You didn't mention your gears or whether you have Regular, Quad, or Crew.

I have a 2013 1500 CC 4x4 SLT with the Pentastar v6/8spd & 3.21 gears and get about the same mpg (13k miles). I have gotten better and worse depending on terrain (sw Va mountains vs Southern Indiana/flat) and mostly on whether or not I'm getting into the gas too much vs trying to drive using the "Eco" light.

I recently took a 1500 mile round trip for work (fairly flat just me and some clothes) where some highway speeds reached to 80mph. I can say that around 68-75 was about the sweet spot on mpg (22mpg) and I actually had the mpg go down around 80 (19-20mpg), probably aerodynamics kicking in.

I previously had a 2013 1500 CC Express 4x4 with the Hemi V8/6spd for about 4months back in the Va mountains. I was lucky to see 14mpg city/18mpg highway no matter how I drove. I have seen posts of people with the v8/8spd getting better mpg using the Eco light. Thankfully I got a great deal on trade and didn't lose a dime.

Overall I am very happy with the truck and my gas mileage as a short commute daily driver. I average about 18mpg city in a town that is well known for getting stuck at its stop lights.

Gotta remember... the window sticker shows what the most fuel efficient model will get.. single cab, 3.21 gears, no options bare bones..

I had a 2014 v6 quad cab (3.55 gears) and got about 21mpg on the hwy AVG at first then after 7k miles or so it went up to 23-25. I traded it for a 2015 sport Hemi (3.21 gears) that's getting about 21mpg hwy so far and about 16.5 city :)

EVIC means NOTHING!
Yeah, seems like lots of different viewpoints on how good the EVIC does. Mine is consistently 1 to 2 mpg higher than hand calculated, if I reset it at each fill up... Basically it is a placebo to make you believe you're getting better mileage than you really are. Some folks seem to get closer to reality numbers out of their EVIC, but I am fairly sure the difference in driving types plays a huge role in that.

The window sticker will reflect the engine and the drivetrain such as 4WD or 2WD, at least.

Thanks for the replies guy's.
On a recent roadtrip between Dallas and Houston I averaged about 20 MPG cruising at 75. It just seems like the 8 speed trany switches gears a lot, but then again the 6 cyl. Pentastar has a lot of weight to push.

I went from Rockwall to Hillsboro and back (~175mi round trip) today and got 20.7 on my evic cruising in the 72-77 range. But yeah, I think with the v6 it's just a lot of weight to push through the air at that speed with a truck. I bet you gain a good bit dropping it to 70mph or 65mph.

EPA testing doesn't exceed 60 mph. MPG drops quickly the faster ya go.

Thankfully, Ram is THE most aerodynamic truck in its class.

Most of the Ferd F-150 drivers can't get anywhere near the estimated EPA mpg for 2 reasons,,,
1. No one usually drives 60.
2 The Ferd still comes up short in aerodynamics'.

Yeah if I drive 60, I can get damn near 23mpg on the Evic, so I'm sure I'm at least 21 hand calculated. I'm happy with that, my old Hemi could never break 20 on the evic even in the most favorable conditions.

I saw 24 mpg on the first half leg of our 6500 mile road trip. Lifetime average right under 23

Stock I was getting 23-24 running on mid grade. Now I can manage 21 if I keep it at 60.

The EPA actually has a 'high speed' test now that is averaged in that achieves 80mph at times.

https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml

The biggest things with economy with trucks is driver differences and model differences. Things like gear ratios, configuration, 4x2 vs 4x4, wheels and tires etc... are huge changes compared to passenger cars where the only things change are wheels and tires.

The Manufacturer doesn't test every model, they test the most fuel efficient version then estimate economy on the other models. They then submit the numbers to the EPA who then will test 10-15% of the numbers submitted for verification. And the Bold EPA estimated number doesn't really matter. Knowing the differences stated above, the numbers that matter are in very small print and labeled expected range. If the bold number is 21, expected range is something like 16-25. If your economy falls in to that range it is considered normal. Now say you have a heavy foot, you are getting 13 and take it in. To verify the dealer will take it in and send somebody out on a short trip at about 50mph and get 20 and say everything is normal.

2014 Ram 1500 5.7 hemi V8, 8 speed crew cab, standard 6'4" bed, Peragon tonneau cover, k&n aftermarket filter and active shutter grill management. On trip from San Antonio to Dallas, average 65-68 mph, two stops, and was at 26.2 mpg by computer. Uploaded a pic to show mileage, gas meter and time to drive it. To know this is even possible gave me a sense of surprise and pleasure that this doesn't have to be gas guzzle alley. The norm is 21 mpg city/hwy normally. I do drive kindly and never heavy on the gas. Always keeping in mind gas efficiency.
