Brand new truck (ok, in October it was new, to me)....

I have 3000 mi on the clock. According to EVIC, Oil Life is at 80%, and Fuel Filter life is 79%. Is this normal? I do not see where fueil filter replacement happens at same interval as oil changes. Seems odd in any case. Yeah? No? Maybe????

Check your owners manual. Aren't fuel filters due every 15k? That would put them pretty close.

most people change their fuel filters at the same time as their oil changes. makes remembering to change them easier, and having clean fuel going through these CR injectors cannot be stressed enough.

Ah, yes, diesel supplement. states 15,000. It never actually says to change oil then, except that the system will tell you when, but it should never exceed 15000.

MOPARownerConnect says oil at 8K, but no mention of fuel filter. I guess it doesnt know mine's a CTD either. :)

Thanks for setting it straight.

This only applies to the diesels right? I didn't even see the fuel filter life on my 1500 5.7L hemi when i looked through the dash screen. For a gas truck 15k… maybe kinda seems like a short span lol. Compared to what Im used to.

diesel only. diesel is pretty dirty and you have to filter it or you'll mess up the injectors and that's not cheap

Gas has to gave a filter on it. Prob by the tank. Every car has a fuel filter of about 10 microns on a EFI motor.

No. There is no serviceable filter. Just a strainer on the pump like every in tank pump.

Wow that's just crap... way to go mopar. Socks on pumps are rated around 100microns. Injectors can clog up with anything larger than 10 microns... sounds like I kno my next mod.

Because so many people never would pay the 300 to 400 for someone to change a gas filter.

Pay 400 for a gas filter replacement on the frame of the car. Like that on my 87 firebird, 96 Oldsmobile. Takes 10 min to replace.

I don't pay no one to do nothing for me.
I would like a fuel filter that's replaceable on my own time. Especially if the above filter / strainer rate of 100 microns is true.

It can't be less than 100 micron before the pump bc anything less causes too much of a restriction for the pump to suck the gas through.

All intake pumps have a 100micron sock filter...well that I know of. Even on race cars they recommend a 100micron filter before the pump and then a 40 micron for carb applications and 10micron for EFI. If you go less than 100 micron it cab cause suction issues or even cavitation and vapor lock. Kills fuel pumps very fast.
