2011 dodge 1500 v8 hemi

Put on some 35 nitto trail grapplers on 20s

Knew i would drop gas mileage average. Around 13

Towed a 2000 pound trailer and droped to 9

Also was kinda struggling kept shifting

Out these tires really hurting me?

Thinking of going back to normal snows for winter

Do u think it will make it better.

Did you allow for the diameter change in calculating your mileage? Check your odometer against mile markers if you haven't recalibrated speedo. You may be doing better than you think.

Speedo has been recalibrated.
3.55 gears

Shifting is up down whole ride crusing at 70
I would think pulling 2000 lbs truck would barely know trailers there.

do a gear swap and it will really help, go to a 4:10 or even a 4:56, turns those tires easier, I picked up a good few mpg on the highway after going to 4:56 on my third gen. and a lot peppier

Next time you tow try Tow/Haul mode.

35's not only add frontal area and cut down on your aero but they also add weight. Both of those will hurt MPG.

But I think you'll see better mileage in Tow Haul vs. full auto when towing.

Also I would consider a tuner if that's an option, will definitely help

Tried tow haul mode. Did not seem to make any difference.

Gear swap sounds expensive.

Dont mind it when not towing

Wouldnt mind getting a cheap take off rims and snow tires.

Tuner option. Intune?

what ? the final drive ratio in the 8 speed will fix this. Adding lower gears is a waste of cash, your overall MPG won't be affected. The final drive ratio on this 8 speed is like 15:*.....

With that said, if you're getting 13MPG with those 35's , be happy. I have 35's, and I'm getting 11.5 :( i'm likely lifted more than you, but still, 13 is decent, i've towed 8k with it, and i'll get about 4 - 5 depending what state i'm in. good luck :)
