Dropped off my beauty for gear install late tonight. Sunday I will pick her up with the 4.56's installed and the powertrax ready to go!!!!

I have read no towing for first 500 mile so I will have to go on some road trips to allow for next weekend boat usage haha

I will report my personal experience with said gears later next week.

Boom

The Break-in Procedure for warranty is in the Box of Gears. First trip is about 2-5 miles then stop and 20 min cool down, after several cycles you can up the speed and duration of the heat cool cycle. It's hard to follow (without wanting to give-er) but worth it and when you come to a light adter hitting 501 miles then you can light em up! congrats.

200 for the install is not bad, it takes a long time to get the lashing right on these.

Nice!! how much is all that? if you don't mind me asking.

On mine I am doing front and rear with powertrax in the rear and purchased master overhaul kits for both and ill have about $1600 into parts and labor. $1050 in parts and $550 in labor.

That sounds about right. When I was inquiring about gears, I got a quote for $1700 with a 2 year warranty. Can't wait to hear how you like them.

Labour cost sounds awesome. Mine was approx 5-6 Hours rear, 7-8 front @ 99 an hour but was worth it as the job was beyond my scope and confidence level.

Pavestar, my drive home was 30 miles on the highway but I hung around town and did 2 heat-cool drive cycles before I hit the Highway and then did not exceed 60 MPH on the way home so it didn't get too hot. The more you break it in IMO the faster you go but don't baby it once you got some breakin miles on the clock. After the first 100 miles I upped the Hwy speed to 80 MPH (approx 2500 RPM w/my 33's). No spinning, hard launches or Burn-outs until 500 Miles for sure.

You Guys will really like this Mod and enjoy it until the Novelty wears off and you want even more speed.

The only reason I am getting labor at $550 for the job is a family friend who has worked on all our vehicles since around 1998 is doing it for me at his house after work. He has a lift in his shop and does work on the side for extra money. Usually beer is good pay but this job is too complex and he says he won't be drinking for this job. He is awesome so I know it will be perfect. I am going to drain and refill fluid after around 500 miles to make sure all is well and little filings and chemicals that wear off of new gears on gone. Then I will be headed to the lake.

I didnt follow the drive 10min, cool 20min, drive 10min cool 20min.... break in time, from what the garage that did my gears told me was just not to get on it at all for the first 500miles and they warrantied evertything and that was also on thier warranty sheet for break in proceedure. I gotta drive 30 miles to work everyday so stop and go just wasnt going to happen. Just keep a light foot on it and you should be fine.

Thats awesome! My gears have been sitting for almost a month now waiting to be installed lol.

No shops around here are opened on weekends and Ive been working 6-6 schedules non stop! I finally had time about 2 weeks ago but the guy called me about 3 hours after I dropped it off saying he wanted the master install kit with crush sleeve and bearings and all that crap before he was willing to install them. Sucks because he is the only reliable installer in the area.

I'm in a huge hurry here because I'm moving 900 miles on the first and need to have everything in working order/broken in by then! I'll be towing a 6'X12' trailer with all my junk in it so Ive got to have it broken in correctly before then. I have another appointment with him on Tuesday, which gives me 10 days, should be enough time ;)

Thanks for sharing that. Your getting a great deal I was quoted 2K for gears. Granted everything is more expensive up here in Alaska.

Got her back today going to take it easy and break in of course. Also had a little issue as I got the wrong powertrax so in about 500 miles I am doing that as a second attempt which is not too big of deal to me until winter I guess.

Awesome. Haha. I'm dropping mine off tomorrow to be done. Hoping they can have it done somewhat quick!
