Same make. Same model. Same engine. One year apart. Different oil filters.:flame:

I hope whoever gave the go ahead for this decision gets horrific door dings and paint chips on every vehicle they own for the rest of their lives.

take a deep breath. the 2012 filter will work on the 2013. the 2012 is larger but works. I use the wix 57899xp spec'd for the 2012 with no issues. same specifications as the 2013 wix 57060xp only bigger. used it on my 2014 1500 5.7 and now my 2015 2500 6.4

I bought the 57060 for my 2012 after putting one on my 2013 a month ago. The 57060 looked like a shot glass compared to a 5 gallon bucket when I held it up to the filer the dealership had put on my 2012. How on earth can that possibly be right?!?!?! Can I just grab any old filter I stumble across and slap it on the hemi?

I checked the Wix website after the visual comparison and they show two different filters for the 2012 & 2013. Why can't it be simple?!?!?!?!?

yes, either filter will fit either truck. I've done it on 2 trucks. both 4x4s. I like the older style filter, larger volume and filter surface area.

I'll do you one even better. 2008 4.7, same model, same engine, same year, two different filters. It seems mopar decided to use a different thread size half way through the build year (3/4" & 22mm). Imagine how delighted I was to spend 30 minutes trying to thread a filter on, only to finally realize it was the wrong size.

I put a sticker of Chuck Norris on my original filter, it will stay clean because it is completely frightened.

As long as you get an oil filter with the same o-ring size and thread pattern as stock, you can use any filter you like. I do it all the time. Alot of times people with plow trucks and work trucks ask if there are larger filters. We stock all the filters at the garage. I just simply find a filter with the same o-ring size and and thread pattern that is larger. I forget what filter is it, but there are people with newer Wranglers, that I use a larger filter on. It may be the Ram 1500 filter, can't remember though.

It's an oil filter.... who cares? They are $15... go buy the right one.

When I don't get home from work until 9:30 at night and am trying to do my wife a favor and change her oil before I leave on a hunting trip the next day, I care. The auto parts stores are closed at 9:30 at night which means I have to put whatever I can find at Walmart on the truck, I care about that also.

Reason for the change to a smaller diameter oil filter in 2013 was the introduction of the electric power steering. The smaller oil filter allows for more clearance for whatever lines are running down there.
The 2012 filter may fit nonetheless, but if you compare the two Wix filters (57899xp & 57060xp), you’ll notice that they have not only a different diameter, but as well a different max flow rate and a different by-pass valve pressure.
