Just bought a 2014 3.6l with the 8spd trans. I noticed I get a jerky down shift from second gear to first. Not like throw you through the windshield but it's noticeable. It seems like this is a common problem. Just hoping it isn't something catastrophic on my brand new used vehicle [emoji58]

Seems many have posted about this issue, but I don't recall reading about catastrophic failures. Just an annoyance.

That's what the consensus seems to be. Only happens during downshift. Other than that it's flawless.

Is this the automatic downshift while slowing down? Is the uphill braking enabled? If so, try disabling it and see if that changes the downshift aggressiveness

Hi Fletch125,

Sorry to hear about this! If you end up deciding to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed, just send us a PM with your VIN and let me know.

It could be the computer learning your driving patterns. When mine was new, it did this for about a week or so, then it smoothed out. I was told it's (computer) just "learning" your driving style.

But, I've also heard of people taking theirs in and getting the computer flashed and it stopped the issue. You might give it a couple of weeks, unless it's already been that long, then take it in to get it checked out.

Yes, there was a "flash" that fixed the problem.... could be your truck has never had it done.

Hi Rvanbel,

Has your Ram dealership addressed this at any point for you? Have you had any flashes done on the truck?

Join the club. From what I've read most people just deal with it, GM guys have the same 'clunk' issue with their 8 speed as well.

Anyone know how much the flash costs? Truck was Canadian before I bought it which apparently voids the warranty in the US [emoji58] not sure how that can be but that's what the dealer said.
