Tonight I was looking at programmers and I happened across a tuner from hyper tech called the interceptor. It is a plug and play under hood harness and a second harness on the accelerator... Offering + 33 hp and + 40 fpt! Not sure how I feel about this type of system vs a handheld programmer but def intrigued. I had a hand held on my chev, a Diablo sport intune but only used to load tune then as a scanner for the occasional code. Does anyone have any experience with these? Any benefits to plug and play under hood vs hand held? What about powertrain warranty, will it void? Any info would be great!!!!!b9eba9b39ec773e595e4f98cd191451b.jpg

I wonder how much they Run? On my 3.6L v6 Pentastar, the extra 8hp probably wouldn't be worth the cost. Must not be much left to get out of it!

Its is nothing but marketing. It is not an actual tuner, it is just a wiring harness with resistors to try to trick your computer into increasing timing. Do some research on the forums from guys that have wasted their money on this part only to remove it and switch to a real tuner. I would save your money on this one.

lots of the guys ran them with success on the Durango forums before Diablo or anyone else had tuning out... I never personally had one but also never heard of anyone complaing about it!

Did any of those guys ever take it to the track or dyno? The consensus on the ram truck was that it gave a slight boost in throttle response, but showed no power gains on the dyno and no drop in et at the drag strip.

Not that i recall but again there was no other option at the time and we tend to convince ourselves things give us a lil more power then they tend to make...lol!

I know what you mean. With no other tuners available, any extra boost in performance or response was an improvement. Once Diablo was released and we saw the real difference in performance, we removed the interceptor from our site. I would feel bad selling it to someone knowing how it compares to the Diablo units.

Moes, thanks for the honest response to this members question. I bought the Bullydog from you a couple of years ago and am happy with it but, would I be off with a Diable w/tunes for towing our travel trailer (5000lbs loaded), 2012 Ram 1500 5.7? Thanks,

The Bullydog tuner makes about 20-22hp/tq to the wheels where the Diablo with custom tuning is going to make closer to 30-35hp/tq to the wheels. If you can sell the Bullydog to recoup some of your money, then it is worth the swap. Otherwise, I dont know if its worth spending another $470-$600 for your application.

For someone that is racing and trying to squeeze out every last hp and get the most aggressive transmission tuning, it is definitely worth it. For an everyday driver that is more focused on towing, and since you already have the Bullydog, I think I would just stick with it.

Thanks again for your candid and honest response; another reason why I'll be buying from you guys in the future!
