Hey there,

I have notice my 2011 Ram 4.7L seems to lack torque off the line, almost like it has a slight lag in power for the 1st 5-10 secs. Is this normal? what can be done to improve this?

Cheers!
Scott

Tuner in conjunction with a cai and gears would help or even a cam

4.7s come alive mid rpm, plus check your gears to see if you have 3.55s. Welcome to the forum.

welcome to Ram forum. Gears would help, but are definitely not an inexpensive mod.

It can be fixed with a tuner. The 2009 and up 4.7 has a 50% limit on take off that keeps the throttle body from opening fully til the engine reaches a certain rpm. Try turning the traction control off and putting it in manual shift mode. This won't make a pemanant fix but its good for quick shots.

I would guess the intake, programmer, and exhaust would help you a bit.
Welcome to the site too

Gears are your only option now. No tuners are available for the 2011s yet. Once a tuner is available, that will wake up that 4.7 (2008-2010 4.7s can get a bump of about 50hp with a superchips).

+1 on the gears. I have had mine for about a month now, and love it! Talk with Scott at Superchips (they are one of our vendors) perhaps they can use your truck as a prototype kinda deal.

Tuning has issues because of the encryption on the 2011+. They have been trying to break it for a year. :(

And it is not just superchips that is having trouble, no one has been able to crack the encryption yet.

I do remember seeing one company that had a 2011 Tuner, Ill try and find it.

It was the only one out there and others have brought it up on other forums.

aFe Scorcher (77-42002) claimed they supported 11's earlier but they have since changed to 03-10.

If you are 2WD and want some pep in your take off then 4.88's  :naughty:
