This will be on my to do list sometime this year.

I still dont understand why RAM still runs those ancient crank fans on the new trucks.
GM has been running efans on their trucks since 2005 or so.

Keep an eye on your hose where it rubs on the fan fins,
Mine was showing enough wear after just a few months to be concerned.

The Blue arrow shows minor rubbing, nothing to worry about there,
the Red arrow indicates a potential trouble spot to watch closely.

I just zip tied some hard plastic landscape drain pipe as temporary protection.

My radiator hose actually doesn't even touch the fan shroud fins. I made sure of that before buttoning everything back up. There is a little give in that upper hose where it connects to the water neck, so I turned it just enough to give about 1/2"-3/4" of clearance between the hose and fins.

I want to do this mod on my 2014 2500 5.7. Is a programmer needed for this to work correctly?

I installed the V6 1500 fan on my 2500 5.7.
I did not adjust the fan temps, and it worked just fine.

The unit bolts up just fine.
Mind you, I had to extend the wires about 3".
It's 10 or 12 ga wire too, so be ready.

Is the Mopar Efan unit 55056851AF still a plug and play install if your not running a programmer...
I guess what I mean is if I did the install myself would the computer need to be flashed to recognize the Efan install?

No flash required. Plug in fan, truck gets hot, fan comes on.

Exactly this.

The only reason people mention them in conjunction so often is that the tuner opens up possibilities for further adjustments you can make to the fan. Like
AC on, temp you want it to come on. Stuff like that. But its all just choices you can make or not mess with. As folks have mentioned, plug it in and let it rock. :)

Is there available for older rams?? Really like the idea of not having the engine always turning the fan.
