Holy hell that thing took a small beating to get off. I barely have 20k miles on the truck and I had to use an air hammer to remove it. Normally you just bump the air hammer on the big nut and it breaks loose, but mine had to be hit about 3-4 times and finally broke loose O.O

Anyways I guess I will see if there is any difference. My tuner has already set my fan setting for my stock thermostat to come on at 210F and shut off at 204F

You will feel a difference since there is less drag resistance on the engine. You know that the trinity tuner only programs the fans operation for when they turn on only. You will have to set the fans AC Off speeds both to 215 and you can leave the AC Fan On to stock so that the AC fan will turn on when the AC is turned on. So the fan will turn on at around 213-214 and it will turn off at around 202-204 where the stock thermostat is rated at.

I'm not using the same route everyone else is by going Diablo. I'm using an SCT X4. It has more options than Diablo and we can turn the fan on and off at whatever temps we want. Kinda neat :)

I drove around town today and can't really tell much difference and my temps get up to 210F according to the EVIC but not one degree hotter so the fan is doing great.

Kotta: I am ignorant to this matter... Did you remove the fan totally and install the V6 Electric Fan?

That is one mod I was slowly looking into...

Nope,

If you have a tuner then you can just remove the clutch fan itself and adjust temps on a 2014+ trucks. They have a bigger more powerful fan then the 2009-2013 trucks. Those trucks would likely need the V6 efan swap.

I want to do this but I feel I would have a hell of a time getting the clutch fan off.

So am I understanding this right or did I miss something, did you keep the fan but remove the clutch or replace the whole fan/clutch system with a electric system?

Sounds like all he did was remove the viscous fan. So it still has the factory electric fan.

My fan came right off with a Cresent wrench at 12K miles or so. I did hit it with wd40 the night before. I did put the v6 electric fan in.

That's almost hard to believe to be honest, but the WD-40 probably did most of the work lol. I've never been able to take off any clutch fan with just a wrench but I also never have used a penetrating oil the night before either.

I'm definitely interested in doing this, I can't stand the viscous fan. I also have a 180 thermostat sitting in a box ready to go in when I have the time.

Mine is a 14' and from what I'm understanding is y'all are simply removing the fan and adjusting the settings on the ac condenser electric fans?

Damn. Whole time I thought I needed to buy a electric fan to replace the clutch one on my 14. I have a 180 stat and tune already. I am ripping this thing off tomorrow..

Trust me after reading how much trouble people were having I was surprised with how easy it was. I gave it a quick bump with the wrench to break it loose and spun it off by hand

On 2014 and Newer Trucks, You can take off the fan clutch and the Fan off.
You will need a tuner to allow the Stock AC E-Fan to turn on sooner, and you will be fine.
I did that to mine, and it runs perfectly fine at 185 all the time. Sitting in traffic it'll creep up to 196 and the e-fan will turn on and it will turn off at 186.
So on my Diablo tuner, I have the AC Off Hi and Low MPH settings at 197 and the AC On speed at stock.
I also have a 180 stat with this setup.
