Launching in 4x4?

Sorry for the stupid question....

Is it safe to launch in 4x4 with the a 2014 tradesman quad cab with the 5.7 8 speed?.

My truck feels faster than my G35 and I want to get it to the track. Currently that open differential sucks for launches.

It depends on which transfer case you have whether you can do it or not. The best option is to launch in 4wd and switch to 2wd because the front half kills a lot of your power down the track but the T-cases for the 4wd Auto (as compared to the 4wd Lock ones) don't behave properly when doing that.

Launch in 4wd then and switch to 2wd as soon as you can. The transition takes a few seconds and you want it complete as soon as possible to reduce the drag from the front driveline.
