Getting my exhaust done on Monday and having trouble deciding whether I'm going with the 14 or the 18. I know the 14 is louder when you get on it, but is it really much louder at idle and startup? I had a Flow 40 series on my old Chevy and it was ok, but not sure how the 14 compares noise level wise. I live in a subdivision and don't want the neighbors to hate me. I'll be leaving the stock piping and resonators on by the way.

Wish I could hear them side by side! On youtube they really don't sound that different, or maybe I have really crappy speakers. :Jedi:

The Magnaflow is going to be quieter with less drone than the Flowmaster 40 you had for sure. I think you'll be happy with the 18".

I have the 18" on mine with the stock dual exhaust and resonators still on.
I like the way it sounds - so does the wife.

It is loud enough to be throaty, but not loud enough to annoy the neighbors, much.
(There is always the possibility of that "one" that is going to be annoyed.)

- Just don't back out of the driveway, put it in 'D' and floor it. :)

I just added an 18" as well with a new CAI and I like it. I tell a difference. Its nit too loud unless you step on it.

Now that my 18" has broken in a bit, I'm happy with it again.
It's a touch quiet when it's brand new.

I agree 100%, I switched from a 14" Magnaflow to an 18" and now that it's broken in it's just as loud. I added 12"X5" exhaust tip's and it makes it sound more deeper as well; still have the resonators on.

I hummed and hawed about this same dilemma for awhile, I ended up going with the 14 Magna, and also cut the resonators out. I have zero regrets.

Truck sounds nice and throaty, nice idle, not too loud. And sounds amazing and turns heads when you step on it. My vote is for 14.

Even 18" is quite loud. Moreover with 8-speed trans you will have a bad drone at 112-119 km/h (which is app. 70-75 mph) with MDS. I do not recommend to buy 14 and wouldn't recommend to buy 18. Sure when you pull to the floor it sounds good, but sometimes at the highway it is really annoying.

My 18" Magnaflow isn't too bad. I get a little drone between 80-90km/h and I can barely hear it over 110km/h. It's really quiet until I step on it. In the city with the 8 speed is a different story. When the MDS kicks in, which is more often then not, it sounds like crap. I just manually put it in 8th gear and it shuts it off.

Well, we have different gear ratios so yours 90 should be around my 110 I wrote ))
I am not telling it is bad - as written by pulling down or starting cold it is really cool and I think this is the growl the real V8 should sounds like but sometimes it is really annoying for me contra to that I've expected. As I know Borla exactly and may be Gibson, do not have such problems.
