Magnaflow muffler missing a weld?

I noticed that on my new muffler one side is not welded, at first I thought it was normal but now I don't think so since my previous magnaflow were all welded.

Probably not right...why would they weld one side and not the other? That would be my guess..

That looks like a “whoops” - call em I am sure they will send a new one.

Well got my replacement today and same thing so I decided to call and apparently they now sometime only press fit the pipe and "weld" it from the inside.

As you can see there's only a small weld on the inside(one on each side)

I'll have it installed, but this is not the quality I was expecting from magnaflow. Unfortunately there's not many companies that make a free flowing muffler of this size...

Interesting. Magnaflow makes a good product so I would not be alarmed if they decided the outside weld was not necessary.

If it bothers you tell the guy at the muffler shop to run a weld around it when you have it installed. It would take him two minutes.

When I asked the magnaflow tech he told that I could do it, but was unnecessary and would void the warranty.

I'm sure it will be fine now, but would have prefer all welded like my previous magnaflow mufflers
