Just curious how many miles people have racked up on their 8 speed equipped trucks and have you had any issues. I have 21000 miles and the only issues I have had are the downshift to 1 issue the first few thousand miles and one time it freaked out and slipped/missed throwing a code. Just had it reset by the dealer and no issues since (8000 miles ago). Overall I'm very happy with the 8 speed, even more so when towing. Let's see your mileage and issues.

12328 here. No issues besides the common whine when in R and then the occasional
bump" when I stop.

My 2013 8 speed has 34,000 miles. Slight bump when stopping sometimes like lots of others have. Other than that I really like the transmission. It also shifts a little smoother and quicker than the 7 speed in my (previously owned) 2013 Mercedes. I guess the real test is to see from guys with high mileage. Though even the 2013 MY is still a pretty new truck.

37,000 here on my 2014, no issues whatsoever, and I tow and race with mine. The truck overall has only had a few minor issues, I've been impressed with how it's holding up to the miles thus far.

38k and no issues. Heck i am getting 22mpg back and forth to work. When I had the Silverado I was at about 17-18mpg.

Love the 8 speed!

Just rolled 36k on my truck, original trans was replaced around 19-20k because of the whine in reverse (wasn't looking to get trans replaced but that's what happened) and the "new" trans had to have the valve body replaced as it wouldn't shift out of 7th traveling in wcxess of 72 mph

Aside from that crap, I absolutely love the 8speed, traded my 2012 after only 10 months of ownership just to "upgrade" to the 8 speed

What's the whine in reverse issue? Just makes a loud whining noise or is there more to it?

25,000 miles in a year and a half. The only issue is the jarring when shifting to 1st when stopping. It comes and goes. I'm glad I bought it. The only thing I'd do differently is get the 3.92 and that would just be for the fun of it as I don't tow or haul.

14,000 miles on mine and besides a little bump on the downshift to 1st no problems. I really like the trans and it is worlds apart from the 6 speed. All it took was one test drive to decide between the two. The 8 speed was well worth the $500 cost!

I don't know if it was a known issue per say but my truck made a very distinct whine/whirring sound in reverse. Mind you, this wasn't a normal sound associated with the way gears are cut and that type stuff. Truck ran fine but I wanted the dealer to document the issue in case I had problems down the road. Well 3 days later they told me I was getting my trans replaced.

25000 miles on my 2014. Sometimes the 1st gear downshift bump.

I run mine in the manual selection on 8 to eliminate MDS and a couple times at 70 mph speeds, it would stick in 7th gear after accelerating until I manually shifted to 7th then to 8th.

8 speed with the Pentastar, so a slightly different trans, but I think I have this 1st gear bump everyone is talking about. When I slow down to a crawl but don't stop completely before accelerating again, sometimes it's a pretty hard shift down into first. No issues other than that though through 6400 miles (which admittedly is not a lot).

For me it's when coming to an abrupt stop and stopping all the way that it lurches forward a little and a rough shift into first. Mainly the lurching forward at an abrupt stop.

2015 8 speed 3.92 Sport 2WD, 8,800 miles. Truck has been terrific other than a rattle which I finally found at the bottom of the center console where the rear air ducts couple. Mechanically great and able to average 18.5 in mixed.

Rolling up to 14,000 miles. No issues thus far,3.92! Stock. I compare driving this truck to driving a monster larger than life sized seadoo (jet ski, wave runner) where the power is overwhelming and the shifts are so smooth it's like they don't even happen!
