I read a magazine article a couple of years ago reguarding CAIs for our trucks. They rated 5 different ones on price, performance, fit, looks, value, etc. the Mopar was second, behind the AirRaid, if I remember correctly. The margin was very small. So if you like that Mopar set-up, I say go for it!

BTW, I own a couple of KTMs. I just love those things! One day, I want to come and see Southern Germany, Austira and Switzerland.

Your not going to feel 10 HP at the fly, but it will sound better at WOT.

I have had mine for about a year with no complaints. It made the truck sound better at WOT and combined with a MF catback, the truck feels much more responsive and pulls harder especially on the highway over 70 and 80. No tune though. I dont tend to buy into the HP gains companies claim but I could tell right away it made the truck "feel" faster.

Save some dough and buy a good high flow drop-in. The OEM airbox is actually a superior CAI to most if not all of these options.

hi@all, what do you think about this kit?

Ram 1500 Cold Air Intake (Part No: 77070023AC)

worth the money or should i better go with k&n?

this kit also Looks good...

S&B Cold Air Intake 2014-2016 Ram 1500/2500/3500 5.7L Hemi - Cleanable Filter

greetings from Austria

tom
Nice looking kit.
Its basically the S&B CAI done-up in MOPAR colors and selling for an extra $100. But its also going to be an easier installation than the S&B because it uses the factory foundation for the air box.

its an improvement over the one from 4 years ago because now its a closed unit and not sucking on engine compartment air.

Personally I warn everyone away form open top CAIs like the old MOPAR (Sorry DILLIGAF) or anything from K&N, AIRAID, or SPECTRE. You want cold air drawn through the fender like the OEM box, but you want more of that colder air. Metal boxes also transmit more heat.

Open units do draw more air than stock, but they can't seal out the hot engine bay air (either because of the metal boxes or because the gasket can't fully seal against the under hood insulation, or rubber gaskets and metal box leave a gap at the fender), so you get less than the full effect. You probably will get a lot more throttle noise from under the hood with an open CAI (tooth rattling, filling shaking, music killing under load) and maybe even some whistling at idle--I know from when I didn't know any better and had one, the K&Ns are notorious for a sucking whistle at idle--and no one would mistake that starving vacuum cleaner sound for a blower.

I've had the S&B CAI that I purchased from Moe's for three years and am very happy with it.

One more thing, you might feel a little something, but a CAI alone is not going to make a big change to acceleration or MPG. It will give you the sense of satisfaction from having done something for your RAM and personalized it a bit, but your not going to smoke the tires after a CAI install unless you could do it before you put it on :burnout:

Oh no sucking in a bit of hot air... first world problems...lol...

Dealer put it on for free so why would I waste money to replace it to gain a measly 2-4 HP.

I think it is just a piece of the package
Throw in a few other things and you start to see and feel the payoff

What payoff don't we have close to 400 hp allready?

What more do you want, it's a truck not a sports car.

Said it was better than OEM. What more do you want, you've had it four freaking years?!

I think you misunderstood, I meant I allready have one installed, so for me Upgrading to a closed unit isn't worth it for a measly 2 hp gain.

Not enough to push 37's , noticeable drop off in power from stock tires. Modifications now getting it back to where it should be IMO. Combine the power gains, looks, sound and it is all good in my world :favorites13:

here is the power core filter , it is a dry unit with a 100,000 mile life :)
