Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and also new to owning a truck. I got my 2015 ram 1500 5.7L hemi about a month ago and am looking to get a new muffler. Which would you suggest and also, how do I know what size inlet and outlet I need?

I just had my factory muffler removed and replaced with a Flowmaster 40 series. Very happy with the way it sounds now

I'll admit to being totally ignorant to the topic so excuse me if my questions might sound obvious. But how do you know which one will fit the truck? Do I have to take the old one off to measure the inlet and outlet sizes?

I don't know, I took mine to a muffler shop. They did the work and sold me the muffler for $99

I'm a big fan of Magnaflow and was really surprised how much I liked the Bank's on my '06 hemi.

There are a few direct fit kits out there specifically designed for our truck.

Flowmaster, Carven, Magnaflow, Mufflex are a few that make a direct fit muffler to replace our stock one. Each one sounds a little different so check youtube for comparisons. If you know anyone personally to hear it in person that is always the best.

I just put the carvan on mine, sounds great. I got the progressive series, the comp series is louder, don't know that I'd want mine any louder. Just did the muffler with stock tips. Sounds like a hemi should sound now. Engine runs noticeably smother couldn't believe the extra heat coming out of the pipes now.

Damn auto correct, Carven, not carvan. Originally it wanted to say caravan.

I wish I got the truck with dual exhaust and I would have gotten a carven

I have a Borla muffler on my truck.....part # 400486. I love the sound and it has minimal (if any) drone.

Yes the carven is awesome. Sounds great. Direct bolt on and comes with clamps and is stainless. I have a carven progressive used about 3 months still like new shape. I wanted the louder one so... if interested hit me up 200.00 bucks

Stock muffler for factory duals is 3 inch in and 2.25 out, a 2.5 inch out muffler will work, muffler shop will either use adapters or just weld the difference. I recommend black widow or pypes violators.

I just replaced my muffler and rusted out exhaust pipes with a 14" Magnaflow and pipes - direct bolt for the whole thing. It's a 3" in/2.5" dual out. I bought this truck a year old ('13 1500 Express), and it already had a Flowmaster Delta 40 on it. I thought the Flowmaster sounded pretty good, but went with the Magnaflow because of the straight through design. The Magnaflow is definitely quieter at idle, but it has a deeper rumble to it and the sound quality is a lot better I think.

Whichever one you decide yo go with....be sure it's stainless steel since you're in Long Island. I just replaced a Flowmaster after the two small outlet pipes completely rusted through. It was made from aluminized steel. It only lasted three winters and 36K miles here in NJ. When looking for stainless steel, 304SS would be best but 409SS will hold up pretty well here with just some surface rust.

I've always been more of a fan of buying stuff brand new but that does look like it's in great shape. How long have you had it?
