so i got my muffler swapped today. sounds great just what i was looking for. anyways i have some little exhaust leaks even after using an impact gun. I picked up some step-band clamps but they wont fit the mufflex kit. the front inlet will hit the front exhaust stock hanger, and the two outlets for the mufflex kit are welded. i havent welded in a while and i dont really want to start welding under my truck and start modifying. you guys know if they make shorter step-band clamps like a total length of 2 1/2 inches in a 3 inch inlet? and what should i do about the rear outlets? i would like to keep this a bolt on kit and be able to swap to the stock muffler if future probelms do occur but i will weld it if its my last resort.

Love the truck color! :********:

I had a small leak at first with my 14" mufflex kit, and I just repositioned the pipes in the clamp and reclamped and they went away. Have you tried this?

yes and no i adjusted the rear pipes so that the tips are dead even in the bumper and the intel is pushed all the way in as far as it can go. the leaks are at the top of each pipe. i really dont want to torque the clamps anymore for fear of crushing the pipes.

Well that sucks. Have you checked online, I'm sure they have different size clamps to fit. Would you like me to take a reference pic of mine in the A.M.? Let me know if that would help, and I'll grab a quick pic.

How do you mean? I know the mufflex pipe ends are slotted to ease in installation. Is this what your talking about?

I still had to cut mine and it still didn't fit so I had to go to the exhaust shop and they cut a piece and weld it up for me.

Just take a grinder to the opposite side of the 3" section and cut in another slot. This is what I did on mine and it allowed the muffler to close. 500 miles and no leaks, hope you get you get it figured out

I didn't know everyone was having so much trouble with them.

Here's some pics of mine, if it will help.

EDIT: I rotated the pics so they'd be easier to see, but looks like Imagashack just told me to *** and left them as they were.

thanks bud. judging by how tight your clamps are i think i might take the impact to them again.
