As you guys know, I’m seriously leaning towards taking out my Mufflex DOD14M (for sale soon) and installing the DODM80 since I want it just a bit louder than how it sounds now and I wanted to caution anyone who was looking to have a muffler shop do this or something similar. My neighbor has straight pipes on her SRT Charger with the 392 and it sounds nice. I asked where she had it done and she gave me her mech’s business card. I give the guy a call, ask a few questions and needless to say, I will go with the DODM80 and do it myself. First thing, he starts trashing Mufflex by swearing the bolt-on kits will loosen up after a while. Some lock-tight will quickly cure that but more importantly, I asked what kind of material is in the pipe he uses for the weld. He said some aluminum alloy that is only guaranteed to be rust free for 5 years and tried to talk me into by saying I will have traded the truck in before it starts rusting. I’m not sure about you guys but I plan on keeping my truck for longer than 5 years and I’m wanting my exhaust to be rust free the entire time especially since it is stainless steel from the factory. Just a heads up if you considered a shop for this. Make sure they are using stainless for the install.

Yep! You have to compare apples to apples. Most don't realize that most shops use aluminized steel.

I slathered my pipes with copper RTV and haven't had any issues. The clamps are as tight as I could get them so I'm not too worried about them coming loose.

It seems that 98% of Exhaust Shop guys are *********.
At least this is my experience.

Get the Mufflex Kit. It's stainless. "clamps will loosen" Really?
They have been using exhaust clamps since the ... 40s? This is just wrong.

Did I mention, just get the mufflex kit?

Lets see, they work in a muffler shop.
They're not even an oil change tech. They're not working as welders or mechanics. God lovem they're working for a living, but they aint paid for bright if you catch my drift.

if you sell your mufflex system dibs

I have one guy that asked about it last week so let me give him a chance to take it first. If he doesn't want it, you're next on the list. It only has 2000 miles on it so it is practically new and well broken in. Not trying to score a profit or anything, just looking to give it a good home, lol.

As far as the muffler guy goes, he seemed like a good guy at first since my neighbor said he has done good work in the past. The bad part is that he was going to charge me MORE than if I just do it myself. Oh well.

Do you guys get any drone on the highway just crusing? I'm keeping the resonators on so I know that will keep it down just a bit but I keep my radio between 19-23 on the highway and I just want to make sure it won't drive me crazy.

I'm interested in this too. Wondering whether to go with the 14" muffler or no muffler. I like a loud truck but don't want it to drone on the highway.

Its really tolerable considering there is no " main muffler. The resonators do a good job controlling the drone. if your cruising down the highway in eco mode with no radio on, you can hear a difference, but with the radio on its hard to notice.

if your hard on the gas it sounds like AMERICA. Off the gas its really not loud at all.

I wish some of you muffler-less fools lived in MS or LA haha, so I could hear it in person. I don't want it TOO loud, but I want something a tad bit louder and more... "raw"(?)... than my 14" magnaflow

I am straight piped right now and I can tell you with stock manifolds and cats I wouldn't worry about being to loud. ND you need mufflers I've pass a few cops (knock on wood) and they haven't bothered me yet.

if your at all worried about corrosion go with the Boesch Built, they make the same things as mufflex, same prices as them too, but use 304 stainless instead, not 100% sure if they have a dodm80 equivalent just yet, but sure in the near future they will, just picked up a dod14m equivalent, the thing is beautiful, looks like its almost been chromed

That's exactly how I feel about my 14" Magnaflow (not quite loud enough and too clean sounding), so I'm going to try the cherry bomb extreme muffler.

Dude, I just checked out their site - those do look good. I didn't see a DODM80 equivalent on their site, but I have an email out to see if/when they plan to offer a muffler delete kit like the DODM80.
