As you may know, I got my first RAM back in late December, and I was wondering why I couldn't get past about 12.5MPG city driving. Then, when I came on this board, I discovered the recommended octane is 89. Switched to 89 sometime in February, and absolutely same type of driving, and I've been at 14.5MPG ever since.

...just wanted to share that.

I'm getting 13-14.5 on a 89 HF tune depending how hard I am on it. Running 35-12.50-20 on stock rims with toyo M/T

I get 16 and always use 89. I recently changed my oil and used 5w-30 instead of 5w-20 and my mileage went down to 15.5-15.7 in town

How many miles were on your truck when you bought it? Engines are typically much more efficient after they are broke it. I saw the best fuel economy out of my 2015 5.7 after the first 3-5k miles

I use 89. My fuel mileage didn't improve until I had over 10,000 miles on it. I could barely get 12mpg before. Now I get around 14mpg in town.

My first road trip, which started with the truck having less than 100 miles on it, I averaged 18mpg highway around 70-75mph. That road trip was about 1000 miles total.

My road trip these past 2 weeks (started with about 15,000 miles on the truck). I averaged about 20mpg going 75-80mph. 3750 miles total.

I call BULL! Two miles a gallon increase, no way, no how. Octane does not contain any heat energy, not a drop.

Your switch to 89 octane may have aligned with the switch from winter to summer blended fuel which does contain more heat energy, I experience about 1.5 MPG increase but not two miles a gallon more.

Yikes! I am pretty much consistently 18 mpg. I have about 11k on the truck. Probably 80% highway miles.

I don't know how to post my fuelly.com information, but I just looked it up and my average mpg is 18.1.

I don't have a lead foot and I rarely drive more than 4 over the posted speed limit. Unless I am texting, then I am all over the place.

Not sure what to tell you...

...and for the most part, I use the same gas station, QT.

Gas mileage comparisons crack me up. Too many variables to truly compare to get bent out of shape on who gets what. Don't get me wrong, I like getting half decent mileage but I didn't buy a Prius I bought a truck

Oh, I don't really care about gas mileage inasmuch as I care for having some sort of relatively constant baseline to let me know if something is going wrong.
