What mods would I need for the 5.7 1500 to achieve 400hp at wheels? So far I came up short with these mods (CAI/Headers/TB/Exhaust) anything else I would need to achieve my goal?

400rwhp is probably taking minimum $5000. If you do the work yourself.

Hell...maybe more?

Intake, ported throttle body, longtube headers without cats, clutch fan delete, ATI underdrive pulley, catch can, cooler thermostat, and custom tuning will put you around 375hp. Add a bigger cam, and you are just over 400hp n/a.

Trend, l'm just being nosey.

But what configuration is your truck?

What tranny, and rear end gears do you have?

Thats a lot od money to throw at a brand new truck. Is it paid off?

What are you going to do for tires? The stockers are going to do not much more than go up in smoke. And you can do that easily with a stock engine.

Does anyone know how much theoretical crank hp it's going to take to get 400 at the wheels?

I've recently Pro Charged my '13 V6 Perf Pac Mustang. It made 393 at the rw. <Thats actually pretty mild. Most guys with the 3.7 Ford, go more than that. The Mustang weighs 3560, full of fuel, right now. Manual tranny. It's a lot of fun. The car is smooth, and powerful, while being pretty light.

I wonder why more guys don't put Pro Chargers on these trucks? Pro Charger, 8 speed, 3.92s. I think 450 to the rear wheels would be easy, with a lot of margin of safty. Theoretically.......

IMHO---I think one of the problems that some people have is they buy a Ram truck, read about all the good stuff they can do to it to make it faster and/or quicker, and then after a couple thousand, they finally realize they still have a 5000-6000 brick. Yes, you can make them perform better, beat up on Chevys and Fords(so far), but at the end of the day you still have a 5000-6000 brick--------but it's still fun to do :naughty::naughty:

Well it's a truck, so.... isn't beating up on other trucks the point?

Yep--However sometimes our expectations exceed the capabilities of the current go fast mod's for Ram's. We seem to be lagging behind the other brands in the availability of go fast goodies.

As a lifelong mopar guy, that's something we've struggled with forever. Makes it sweeter when you can put a whoopin on the other brands.
