Curious as to what plugs you guys are replacing stocks with and also what mileage are y'all changing them at? Was just quoted $250 for ngk plugs at autozone and thought that was a bit ridiculous.

NKG coppers for $60-70 from rockauto or ebay.

Changed mine at 60K and really they didn't look that bad.

Holy crap Batman, that's a little over 15 dollars a plug! Sounds like they quoted you for 32 plugs instead of 16?

Autozone lists 2 NGK plugs - one is the "performance" spec - at $14 each and the other is the standard at $5 each... my guess is they went for the performance ones :)

Yea he had to of went with performance plugs. He said it was like $250 with tax and all so that's bout right.
Iv got 37k miles right now and have no problem with running rough or misfiring so I think I'll wait until 50-60k to change them. Unless something changes. Thanks

My 2014 manual also says 100k mile plugs. Even when it's time to change my plugs, I hope and pray the plugs are no more than $4/per

You might want to start saving now.30k plugs are cheap.100K plugs are not.

BTW Having been a tech for many, many years I'd sooner have plugs that need to be changed out at 30 k.Cheaper and less chance of the factory installed ones seizing in the head.Anyone have any idea how many alum heads have needed to be repaired because the plug left in there for a 100 k wouldn't come out without bringing the threads with them.I've seen vehicles traded in because the plugs wouldn't come out.

If in question pull your plugs and inspect them..... Dealer tried the same to me, told me over $300.. I said Nope I'll do them myself. put in E3's which everyone says doesn't do anything but truck runs great on them so far no issues. I will pull them out soon and inspect them before I get too many miles with the new tune to see if there are any changes that are made from the tuner that will need to be addressed in the spark department.

I like to know what is going on with my motor and only way to do that is investigate and log the info to refer back to later when something is funky. spark plugs tell a huge story as to how the cylinder is running.

But save yourselves the dealer expense and do them your self.. easy east job

I wouldn't dream of waiting till 100k miles to change plugs, maybe 70k miles max.

My hemi 2012 is slowly creeping up on the 30k..and I'm debating on doing them myself...maybe doing some minor cleaning up with removing the throttle body and cleaning that up to (yup no catch can). Along with an oil change will pretty much eat up a complete Saturday or Sunday , but I don't mind getting my girly computer hands dirty..lol

Is there a complete write up where I can do it myself and all of the tools I might need?

For a couple of hundred dollars I would rather just have the dealer replace the plugs or any other job for that matter.

I ran my stock plugs till 45k. Should have replaced them at 30k. Truck still ran smooth with no issues. Pulled the plugs and they looked fine. Not worn and still gapped to spec. Probably could have left them in another 45k. Needless to say I won't be changing my plugs again any time soon.

2009-2013 plugs are copper, 30k changes. 2014+ are iridium, 100k changes. :)

I owned a 2013 before it was wrecked. It had copper plugs.

I pulled one plug out after i bought it at the dealership with 45k miles, and the plugs either wernt worn at all, or they were done at 30ish. Im sitting at 55k right now and will do them at my next oil change which is in about 1500 miles. My biggest fear always is that there seized in the head.

If they are seized in the head and i do the job my self, and it stripes will the powertrain warrenty cover it?

You don't really need a write up. It is pretty easy. Just takes a little while because there are a lot of them and the rear ones on the drivers side are a little cramped. You will just need a 10mm to remove the coils and 5/8" spark plug socket and an extension for the plugs.
