So this thread can probably be answered fairly easily, or you can go as in depth as you care. I'm just curious, since the reintroduction of the Hemi, what are the years/Generations and what are the significant changes with them? Thanks in advance for your knowledge.

So all the Hemi engines in our trucks are considered 3rd generation Hemi's, just split between 3rd generation and 4th generation trucks, with minor changes to the engines?

Pretty much, looks like the most extensive changes were around 2009.

The hemi motor was reintroduced in the Ram trucks in 2003. They started putting them in the cars and Jeeps in 2005. This non VVT motor was rated at 345hp. Then in 2009, Dodge changed the design of the Ram trucks and switched to the VVT 5.7 which was rated at 390hp. Then in 2013, they simply went to electric power steering on the Rams which stepped the power level up to 395hp. These are all technically considered gen 3 hemi motors.

Was the vvt where they got the additional 45hp? I figured they probably did some tuning too
