What do you guys think about the Magnaflow side exit exhaust on my truck? I'm a little worried about drone since the pipes after the muffler are so short. I think it looks cool as hell though. I haven't been able to find much on it, just the pics from the Magnaflow website and a couple of videos. I could always swap out the 18" muffler for a 22" if it got too loud...

No, I have the single exhaust without bumper cutouts.

I think it will sound awesome !. However it will ever so slightly effect your ground clearance, if that matters at all to you. I like the twin side pipe look, but if I was in your position with a single exhaust... I would do a stealthy diesel exhaust dump over the rear axle. just get the exhaust tip to line up flush with the bumper. Run a 3.5'' or 4'' single over axle dump to give you a really deep exhaust note. Plus from what I can see, there is not a piece of visible chrome on your truck.

Now that's just me, you will spend your earned money how you see fit, and of course the forum is going to support the mods !!! lol.

Yeah, the forum supporting mods isn't a problem. LOL

Ground clearance isn't a huge issue with this truck, but it could become an issue at some point. I could also paint or powder coat the tips gloss black to get rid of the chrome, but that's another ~$100 on top of the already pricey kit. My initial plan was to just get a 24" Mufflex kit and dump it after the axle, just like I had the Power Wagon. I'll have to deal with the resonator, as it will be removed, but that shouldn't be too big of a deal.

One more option is the Magnaflow kit that exits behind the rear tire with a single tip. Back up to big bucks though that could be done cheaper with a custom system...

Personally I think you should look into a custom over axle dump. Stealth / Clean look.

No need for an exhaust tip $, No need for powder coat $, Better O/R clearance :)

no matter what route you go, I think your truck looks awesome !

Do it. And leave the tips chrome. Gives it a good contrast on an otherwise completely blacked out truck. Makes it stand out. :imo:

I didn't know they offered a side exit exhaust for our trucks. It's what I have been thinking of doing with Borla mufflers but felt like the control arm/bracket got in the way. I would like to see installed pics of this to get an idea how the pipes are ran under there.

Otherwise I was just going to dump it at the axle.

I say dump it or run this setup. Either way is better than out the back when you don't have the exhaust cutouts in the bumper.

I just called Magnaflow and they don't think this one will fit with the crew cab 6' bed... I could make it work with some modifications, but might as well just have one custom built at that point...

More options...

Went to a local exhaust shop and they can do the side exit with two tips for $200, plus muffler which I would need to provide. They stock several Flowmasters and the 14" Magnaflow. He said he prefers for my to just buy my own muffler and have them install it. This would be about a $325 option after taxes and the muffler.

Called Mufflex and they said the extra length in the pipes is made up in the tailpipes after the muffler, so there's no problem installing their kits. This also confirms that the bolt on Magnaflow kit would be about 9" too short. I see no point in spending big bucks on a bolt on kit only to spend more money to modify it. The Mufflex option would be about $240, plus whatever I decide to do on tips/dumping. Dumping would be free if I hack it off myself with a sawzall.

Stock exhaust is 3" all the way through. I will not be touching the Y pipe at this time. I took a quick look at it and mine looks a hell of a lot better than my 2010 and 2012 did. It's still a crushed D entering a single pipe, but that pipe is now bigger.

The 22" muffler will be here tomorrow so if all goes as planned, I'll have new exhaust done tomorrow afternoon! Here's a quick chop of my plans. Not sure exactly what tips I'll be using yet, but it will be an angle cut.

Make sure to post up pics of your setup when finished. I'm still debating if I want to do this or just dump it.

And it's done! I think it turned out great really like the look. Sound great too. It's still pretty mild but definitely not stock. This is the Magnaflow 5x11x22 muffler and I'd say it sounds pretty close to a Magnaflow 18" with duals out the back. Not sure on drone yet as I haven't had it on the highway. Going to the lake this weekend towing my ATV so I'll get a pretty good feel for drone.

Here's some pics, video is uploading now...
