Hey guys just picked up my new 17 Ram sport.

I noticed that dodge makes a cold air intake and can add a functional hood scoop as well.

Does anyone here have an opinion on intakes, should I go with the OEM or K&n?

I had/have this same debate. That mopar one with the functional hoodscoop is pretty damn cool.

I have the K&N though which is a fraction of the cost. Saw my MPG go up with it and sounds way better. Also can accelerate with much less throttle than before so engine has to work less it seems.

I would say K&N and then use the extra cash for an E-Fan and Tuner. Still would probably be less than the complete mopar kit!

I have the Mopar CAI with functional hood scoop. If I had to do it over again I would. Love the setup

The varam is way more functional than that one tiny scoop on the mopar kit.

Installation picture of the finished product. I'm sure you'll have all kinds of opinions on what is better and what isn't but bottom line is Mopar CAI is carb approved which justifies it's higher price tag regardless of who makes that 1 to 2 additional horsepower. It works and I enjoy parts that fit as close to factory as possible which this does. However with that said your situation might be different from mine but this is the feedback I have to share.

If it works and you are happy that’s all that matters...
as long as it doesn’t look like the below pic... and yes sadly I know the guy who has this on his Jeep...

That is a nice setup, looks like a clean install. I have seen some that didn’t trim the hood liner as good as yours is, did you install this or the dealer?

How does this intake sound? Curious since it pulls through the hood if it has a deep throaty sound or what? Any comparison in sound to the K&N?
