Oem remote start not working

I bought the truck used and since day 1 the remote start does not work.

:jawdrop:

Fuel level ok, all doors and hood closed etc etc
Key fob locks and unlocks doors fine.

Any suggestions before I head to the dealer??

Whats the message on the dash when you try??

The hood latch is typically the issue... 35bucks on ebay for a new 1.

Unfortunately it's your key fob. You will have to go to a dealer. They will try to reprogram it, and if that doesn't work you will need a new fob.
I went through all this already a few months ago. Fortunately I am still under warranty.

Low fuel or any errors will prevent the truck from starting with the remote start. Might want to check for any stored errors.

Update I just ordered new latch to see if that is the issue cause after cleaning the latch sensor it started working. Not sure if that is the ultimate issue...i will find out by Wed.

If thats the issue when it wouldnt work it would say on the dash remote start deactivated hood ajar. Its the most common issue as the latch is a mechanical sensor and they rust.

no luck replacing the latch still doesn't work. Dropping off at dealer Monday. Hopefully just need to reprogram FOBS.

It's hard for us to help you when you're not answering our questions. Do you have a check engine light, or is there one stored? Is there an error message after you try remote starting? When you hit the button, does anything happen at all on the cluster? Do you have another key fob, and if so, does it work with that one? You said you briefly had it working...it could just be the contact on the rubber button overlay pad, and you can find those for ~$10.

I have (2) Keyfobs:

YESTERDAY
-both FOBS open and close doors
-both FOBS dont activate air suspension or start the car
-no CEL, no error on dash after trying to remote start (i look threw the window while starting)
-hood latch brand new
-no stored messages
-full tank of gas

Today
-sitting overnight for 12 hours and this morning it starts
wtf!!!!

That is odd. Let me ask this... I hit the lock button first everytime, then hit the remote start button twice... you hear 3 beeps in that situation. Are you hearing the beeps of the horn and it doesn't start... or does it never beep at all. Will tell you if its a signal problem or an ignition problem right there...

Also, don't quote me on this, but I think it has to be locked for the remote starter to work. Try hitting the lock button before the start button twice.

super interested in what this is... :popcorn:

EVERY OTHER CAR I OWNED WOULD LOCK THE DOORS FIRST AND THEN START THE CAR.

THIS DUMB B!T{H NEEDS TO HAVE HER DOORS LOCKED FIRST THEN HIT THE REMOTE START?

Must be something your truck. I can remote start mine(factory installed) with the doors unlocked. Like you said, it locks the doors then starts the truck.

It's supposed to lock the doors automatically first. So, is it consistently starting now after you lock the doors? If so, that'll narrow down the problem for the dealer when you take it in

Depends on the year. The 2012 Sport I have, if the doors aren't locked first... it wont start. Looks like that solved your problem.

He's showing a 2014, so I'm assuming that's the truck he's talking about, and it's supposed to automatically lock the doors first. If he has to lock the truck first with the lock button, then there is a problem, because it is not working as designed
