I have considered dumping it over the axle. Problem is, I had the exhaust welded in and did not think to have the guy let me listen to it without the resonator on before he finished. The sound is fine now and if a little louder, I won't mind. I have just about everything installed on my truck that can make noise, so no big deal. Just don't want it to be crazy loud, neighbors recently had a newborn...

My exhaust is all stock including the resonator. I just cut off the pipe right before it starts to turn to the side so it dumps down and back.

I would need to get rid of the resonator and dump the pipe. I have a 6" lift and everything underneath is visible. Would look funny just shortening the pipe off the resonator. Truck has a beasty image.

Had the 17" on my truck, fit perfect. Powdercoating only lasted about 6-8 months though, once it started flaking in one spot then that was it. Bigger flakes would come off after that.
