I did not have to do anything to mine but buy better hose like you did.
$36 bucks and it works great just fyi.

Just mounted mine tonight. Bought the same one you've got and mounted it in the same place. By the looks of the throttle body I'm gonna need to pull that off when it gets warmer and give it a good cleaning. 13k miles and it had a decent oil buildup on the back side.

As much crap that ends up in the catch can I can sure see it getting "oiled" pretty quick.
Really surprised how much gets in there .

Never knowing this before, it baffles me that they would have such a terrible design that pumps that much **** through the intake. How is that even remotely a good idea and the best highly educated engineers can come up with?

I kinda skipped to the end of this thread, so I’m not sure if it has been covered. I have seen a few different brackets for the occ. Does it matter what elevation the actual can sits? I have seen lower closer brackets as well as some higher up with a longer bracket. I like the taller brackets because they seem easier to empty on a regular basis.
Imho , the lower the better as the vent continuing to the intake has gravity working against it as well .
I know the ones mounted higher than mine work well and even the ones I've seen nearly level seem to work pretty good too .

This is my truck , and my wives Challenger hers works pretty good just a few inches below the intake .... mine is several more inches below the intake ...the exit tube at my intake is dry hers is a tad damp. .

Hope this helps [emoji16]

That's too bad , this is my wife's Challenger at 13k , had an OCC since 900 miles . I know it's not a picture of the backside of the plate , but the backside and inside look equally clean . I should say about every 2,500 - 3,000 miles I run a full bottle of Redline S1 fuel system treatment in the gas tank ...

I can't say how bad it is for sure until I pull it this spring. But I moved the flap enough to wipe my finger on the back side and it was wet and when closed you can see a light brown ring around it. I guess it's better to do it at 13k than never.

I agree , I believe it's an EPA thing ...move vehicles have ithis or similar design since the late 90's if I'm not mistaken.

This will be my first mod on the truck. Just rolled over 600 miles today. Aiming to do it next weekend which should put me around 700-800 miles.

Yep , I didn't install it on my Ram until 22k , wish I'd installed it sooner.

They should all do some basic function similar to the catch can which drains back into the crank case oil but that doesn't capture all oil because it's not far enough away to cool the vapours enough to condense and get captured.

My best guess is the design is to reduce the regular maintenance items to be done on the engine. One more thing to be done during oil changes or between changes.

Mix that with EGR and you have a recipe for a real mess in the intake manifold.

there are lots of nice ones out there.. some with site glass tubes on the side which i wanted but ease of install was worth the extra $20-$25 to me

My 2010 just rolled 60k, is it even worth installing a catch can at this point?
