I installed my oil catch can at my last oil change at 36,447 miles. I have been saving the oil from the can into a water bottle and changed the oil again this weekend at 42,252 miles. This is what was collected in the can in 5,805 miles! Not sure how many ounces this is, but it's 2" up on a standard water bottle. This oil change also happened to land on 1000 engine hours!

Im really surprised the hemi withstands all the grime, and sad to see that my hemi takes all that in.

I swear it feels more powerful with this mod and MPG are up on trip I took. I guess if that oil is not being burned it probably is a better burn.

I installed a BT catch can and was shocked with how much oil it collected. As it is now, I'm pretty much filling the can every 5k miles.....crazy ****!

I've done some reading into the catch can. I'm kinda on the fence. Part of me thinks that if it was necessary then auto makers would have them installed. I get the idea but there have been plenty of vehicles that go well over 100k without.

Good point. Makes you wonder doesn't it. On one hand it has to make sludge and such being injected back int the cylinders. Also,as rings wear there should be an increase in the oil found in the catch can. The effect of blow-by. Unless I'm thinking wrong.

My guess is they figure people won't empty them as they should. I also notice that I collect an awful lot of crap in mine. I think I can make 8000 miles but we will see.

Dodge didnt install these from the factory for the same reason that they didnt delete the DPF and EGR on the diesels. Those parts cause nothing but trouble for the guys that dont delete them themselves, but the govt. forced them to have them. A catch can should be 1 of the first mods for all 09-up Rams.

I've read that they are good for all motors and I've read that they are really only necessary for racing motors.... I just don't see how any company could warranty a motor for 100k or more even if these things are a absolutely necessary thing.... Not trying to knock them but just seems kinda strange.

8 out of 10 cummins trucks that go in for warranty work are related to the DPF or EGR system. Dodge knows they are a problem, but they have no choice but to have them on the trucks. The guys that delete these parts are the guys that never go to the dealership for warranty work.

Take your throttle body off after about 30k miles and post a pic of what it looks like. I'm guessing it will be solid black and caked in oil.
