I bought my 2013 RAM 1500 Crew Cab on 9-4-2013, it was built in July 2013 and it has just over 2000 miles on it. But the oil is 4 months old, has a little "lot rot" on it.:yucky:

The evic shows 70% left on the oil.

I drive it at least 20 miles every day.

Change it. You're broke in, get that factory oil out and some clean oil in. A good synthetic change now can take you till spring without worry.

If it makes you feel better, change it. I always do my first change at 1500-2000 -- depending how long it was on the lot. Some just wait until the light comes on. As long you as you follow your manual, or sooner, you'll be fine.

On my 2010, I changed to Mobil 1 at around 1500 miles and never looked back.

I have over 106K on the odometer now....... and still rolling!

Unfortunately, I am old school when it comes to oil changes, especially the first one on a new vehicle. My 2013 was changed early because oil had been in crankcase 8 months although fewer than 2000 miles, so it was off to the dealer for new dino juice. The service dept. questioned why I was coming in so early before the EVIC indicated servicing, but went ahead with the oil change. They did get in the last laugh with a comment on the work order to follow recommended servicing schedule(s). Anyway, it will be 5000 miles before they see me again.

Is it a good idea to switch to synthetic? Ive had my 2011 1500 hemi about a month. The oil looks clean, but I cant tell if its already synthetic or not. There's less than 37,000 on the odometer
