I'm curious about something. Recently I went to my local jiffy lube to hey an oil change. Price out the door with a synthetic blend $93.... Thankfully I had a $15 coupon but that got me thinking..I remember 3 years ago driving through CT after going to Ikea and stopping in some town for an oil change, plus got my grease fittings done on my 02 Ram... Price for a full I'll change plus the grease... Under $30... Why is there such a difference in price. What do you pay where you are? For those who don't change their own. I'm in NH btw.

That's a good price from a dealer for 7 quarts. Convectional motor oil I'm assuming?

I dig oil stop, they give you credit if you bring your oil or filter or both. You pay like 40ish if you bring oil and filter and they will even take the coupon as well making it 30. But they give you a drink, check all your ****. The have a decent pricing structure for everything, check this out. With coupon I think it was 42 out the door for the wife's car, she takes 5 qrts. All you have to do is say no thank you for all of the extra services. But it is real cool they check everything. So they wouldn't be over 50 bucks with coupon for Hemi, but that is with their chevron oil. If you bring a case plus one mobil 1 from costco it would have been less then your jiffy blend job, and they give you a free soda or coffee while u wait in the car. To be honest, the cheapest way to get an oil change is any shop in town that has those coupons, but OilStop is so convenient, it isn't funny. Really good for dif and transfer cases for folks that aren't used to doing that as well.

I forgot, the coolest thing about them is they tell you the condition of your drain bolt. They are so hyper aware of drain bolt they have replacements for every model. They always comment on how it was torqued as well. Since I do my wife's about 50% of the time, I know I put the bolt back with the least torque possible. They always comment, man that drain bolt was perfect, not too hard like others they see. It's no ********, you pick the wrong shop later on you might find yourself replacing an oil pan you didn't need to, or at least drilling a new repair kit in.

My dealership also charges around $50. They use a synthetic blend (not full synthetic).

I guess I'll have to check my dealership, although I really don't like them. I know in the past they had a deal where if you buy 3 you get 2 out 3 free. That worked out to be a pretty good deal.

under $30 for a synthetic oil change? even 15 years ago i dont see that possible, unless they lied and it wasnt synthetic. jiffy lube is a rip off at $93 for synthetic blend. Should be able to get full synthetic for around $60.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.. The place in CT wasn't synthetic but even that is much cheaper than my Jiffy lube. Conventional oil change was going to be between $50-60.. that's why I went with the blend.

If I bring the dealer mobile one and filter they only charge me $20. Plus I get a free wash.

Looks like my dealer charges $80 for a synthetic change to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum full synthetic. Not bad since 7 quarts alone is a little over $50 so the filter, disposal and labor are around $30.

Ya if you pay that for the oil. You should look around. 40.00 for 10 qts pennzoil platinum full synthetic. I would still do it myself. Even if it was the same price. You don't what Newbe is changing your oil. Stripped plug leaking filter and oil dripping off the frame waiting for it to get done.It doesn't happen when I change it.

Being down in the States, your prices are going to be a bit cheaper.
Standard oil change at the dealer here is about $40, semi-synthetic is about $70, and full synthetic is about $130 before taxes.

I usually go with full synthetic. It's painful paying that bill every time, but I expect a lot out of my truck. So I like to treat it well.

My dealer is around $90 for full synthetic on my 6.4 Hemi. I bought a pack of 6 for around 400 which makes it pretty reasonable @ +/- 70 each. I seem to remember buying the oil and filter is around 50 so I'm only paying 20 for the labor. I like getting the truck into the dealer a couple times a year anyway so they can check in with the mother ship and give me any necessary updates.
