oil filter problem

I'm posting this for my brother in law. He has a 17 1500 hemi sport. He just did the trucks second oil change at 10k miles on the ticker. The dealer did the first oil change. He called me up today with a question about the oil filter. He said when he removed the old filter I came off like it was cross threaded. When installing the new filter he said it went on the same way, felt like it was cross threaded. He is gonna call the dealer Monday morning. My 14 ne er had problems with the filter like his has. Has anyone else had issues with installing or taking the oil filter off?

IM betting the dealer will blame him ,I would believe you BIL but dealer will jump at a chance to deny any involvement.

How do you cross thread an oil filter when you spin it on by hand then tighten half a turn with wrench?
Maybe threads were damaged at factory or dropped on threads after machining process.
May have to buy a thread die that size if its available.

If the dealer doesn't fix it for him then it's really not hard to fix. There's kits out there that can fix the filter threads with minimal experience.

Well my brother in law talked to the dealer about his issue. They told him they will order and replace , under warranty,the nipple the filter threads onto.
