That was not needed, why the stab?

Just read the whole thread. Not sure why you see the need to argue with people who are obviously way less knowledgable. It doesn't look good for you or business. Just state what you know to be correct and let it be. I'm not tuned and would possibly go with either company if I ever decide to tune, but I've been on here a while and it seems that you have repeatedly been in arguments that aren't necessary or drag out way too long. You have a good product from what I've read, don't bring it down with your attitude/ego and the way you reply to threads. It's bad business.

If I get a 180 thermostat do I have to have a custom tune to see the advantages? My oil temps get higher than I would like when towing.

In town yes they would drop a bit. On the highway they would be about the same unless you take out some of your grill shutters as they will close and make the temps go back up to about where the stock tstat had you.

That's what I'm trying to keep mine under. Unless I'm towing.

Are you wanting to get a tuner?
I tow a lot as well so I feel ya on the high oil temps.

I've thrown the idea around, but I have the lifetime max care warranty and don't want to jeopardize that. I have had them on past trucks, but how much of a difference does it really make on a pretty stock gas truck? I only have drop in aem filter and muffler swap. Don't have 93 octane fuel here either. Only 91. My oil temps have been as high as 260 in the summer towing. I do have a 2014 so won't need a new pcm.

Well you definitely have me beat there. Damn 260°. Never seen that high. I'm in the same boat as you regarding low octane fuel. We only have 90 octane here so it's a constant battle. Tuner and that Tstat would help in cooling. I noticed a big change in cooling when I removed some of those shutters on the AGS system.

So you just removed the shutters? Wouldn't they open if the temps call for it or is it based on speed?

I honestly feel like nobody really knows other than upon start up they stay closed to get engine up to temp quicker and then during WOT they open. That's the only info that's been consistently given out.

Do you need to get a tuner to work with the 180 Thermostat? I planned on getting a 180T for towing as well. My oil temps get up to 250-255 when towing up long hills, but quickly cools back to 230F. Seems like just adding the thermostat would be acceptable. Opinions? This is not to say I wouldn't like a tuner! But, my 2015 sport would be pricey...

Haha yeah 2015 makes the price jump pretty big unfortunately.
I can't see why it would hurt since it's just starting the cooling process earlier. Another thing to look at may be your clutch fan. Make sure it's working properly.

:party36:I am a lucky guy. Put the crescent wrench on the fan and tapped it with a hammer and it came right off.

Nice yeah when I'm cruising I'm a solid
185° Coolant
192° Oil
That's at 70mph. Slow down and my oil temp drops.

I hit about 215 at MOST on my truck. That's towing 7,000 lb in the Houston summer too.

I have the 180 thermostat.
Clutch fan delete.
V6 e-fan.
Heavy duty tow package oil cooler.
