My truck is coming due for a new battery, its a 2011 and has the original battery. Its a little slow starting on cold mornings. My question is, anyone out there running an Optima red top in their 1500 with the Hemi? If so which one? None are a direct fit for the trucks. I want to get one for my truck. I had two in my old diesel and loved them.

Not many rave about them since they moved manufacture to Mexico. My advice would be look into and Odyssey battery or order AGM battery from Advance Auto Parts/ car quest, use discount code they are all over the net and pickup in store. They have the biggest CCA battery I have found for our pickups.

I run Optima Yellow Tops and am still happy with them, but if you can get an Odessey where you are go with them.

Duralast Gold are some of the highest rated non-AGM batteries out there.. Your current one lasted 5 years+, I'd say you got your moneys worth...

With the right charger (pulse based) you can bring a lot of batteries back from the grave

Very true but they at that point often should not be used as primary anymore as they will leave you stranded on a cold morning in my experience.

I just bought a load test battery tester it is awesome you can test for up to 10 seconds especially useful to see if you have a bad cell or defect. I tested the wife's van and found the battery to be on the weak side of good. Only a matter of time before I need to replace it and sadly it is only from August 2014 factory battery.

That also depends on the quality and technology of the charger that you're using and of course how truly dead your battery is

I just bought this unit in the fall. Let's me know the status of my alternator as well as the battery. Seems to work quite well so far.

Some very good battery info being shared here thank you.
