Truck stuck in 4th "limp mode" due to a shift solenoid malfunction. Question is..tranny shop is 17 miles away and with the 4.10s and limited to 4th, how safe is this to drive. Basically can't go past 45mph. Should I just have it towed? Any suggestions from anyone that has experienced the same/similar would be appreciated...

Does the recall apply? What's your MY and model?

2012 5.7 1500 with 29k miles...i wouldn't trust letting the dealership touch my truck to be honest with you. Just figuring out logistics of getting it to the shop and how safe it will be to drive. Fairly certain they as usual, will try and blame mods for the issue.

Lol...if only it were that easy...checked all the basics, fluid level etc... found a highly recommended shop but don't want to **** it up by stressing it on the drive. Let's see what I figure out here... need this crap fixed already.

Then you answered your own question, just tow it in, unless there is something stopping you from towing it?
