Seeing a lot of popularity on the pedal commander for our rams, seems as it just changes the sensitivity of the gas pedal equivalent to pressing harder on the pedal? Wouldn't this be bad for longevity and just quicken wear and tear on the truck and transmission?

It increases the pedal sensitivity and gives you instant acceleration without any "dead spot". Wear and tear depends on how you drive and how you take care of your truck no matter what you do to your truck. It's usually what's behind the wheel instead of what has been done to the truck that causes problems.
