alright so i'm thinking about getting the Motive 4.10 gears from moe's performance and was wondering if anyone has them in their truck? would like some opinions on the specific brand please

also, if i put 4.10's in my truck will it affect my speedometer, and if it does, can that be fixed with a tuner like the trinity?

thanks in advance!

Your soeed/odo meter will be off slightly, I think if you have bigger tires it might actually work opposite of the gears effect on your meter so it might even come close to evening out. If you want to be by the book, yeah recalibrate, but may not be that necessary. I know from Jeep's not Dodge specifically. I'm not sure if the speedometer sensor is in the transmission or axle on this vehicle, if it is in the transmission you would need to reprogram, if it is on the axle you shouldn't.

Gears wont throw off your speedo, so you are good there. Only larger/shorter tires will throw off the speedometer.

As for the gears, you are going to need the factory 4.10's, or you will need to machine your rear carrier to accept the Motives. Dodge changed the rear axle in 2011 to the 9.25ZF, and none of the aftermarket gear manufacturers have released a drop in ring and pinion yet.

so the speed sensor must be at the end of the axles, then? If gears don't affect speedo then it must be.

Correct. It registers speed at the wheels and not at the diff.

that's some good info to have there, thanks. Are all or most vehicles like this nowadays?

On edit, I guess with all the technology dealing with anti-lock brakes and ride control etc this is probably the way almost all of the cars and trucks are now.

The 3rd and 4th gen rams are this way, but many other manufacturers still register speed at the diff.

Damn, I didn't know that, I'm used to working on old **** where the speedo cable goes to the trans.
