Is there such a thing?

I swapped out my stock muffler with a Solo Performance Mach 44 direct bolt-on muffler. It reviewed as being the quietest of the performance mufflers and no drone. Not true. Resonates quite loudly in the cab and certainly a very noticeable drone at low RPM when the engine is lugging.

Reviews of Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers indicate that they are quiet.
Anyone using any of their various mufflers?

I have a 22" magnaflow and it's a little bit louder than stock. Has great tone and sounds even better under WOT. It is by far the quietest muffler I have used and has NO DRONE!

+2 on the Magnaflow 22". Great throaty growl at WOT and startup, but never a hint of drone at any speed, even when the exhaust bounces off the front of our trailer with the rear slider window open.

I'd say the Corsa system is about as quiet as I've heard. has a nice bark when you get on it but no drone and very mellow. Sounded great on my 2014 hemi, one thing I miss the most when stepping up to the 6.4

If you want quiet, why not stick with the factory muffler? I think "performance" muffler is a bit of a misnomer as no muffler swap will result in any tangible performance gains on these trucks. My 18" Maggie was purely for the sound, I knew it would make the truck feel any quicker or more responsive.

I'm getting ready to install Flowmaster 70 series big-block muffler with new 2.5" tails without resonators. Hoping for a little more sound than stock with NO drone.

I actually went to the muffler shop this morning and put the stock muffler back on. It was a noisy rattling ride there, nice and peaceful on the way back. Their only other option was to put another resonator on the exhaust pipe before the muffler, to try and see what happens. No thanks, back to what I know works.

should have fixed the Y when it was on the rack.

Wanted to but the shop owner says the cats and Y pipe are a one piece assembly and they are prohibited from touching it. Says if the dealer would do it then it would be covered. Go figure.

I challenge anyone to show (by "real" dyno) the increase in power of just changing the muffler in a modern (i.e. 4th gen Ram) vehicle.

As alluded to earlier, "performance muffler" is really a misnomer. What they should be called are "mentally stimulating auditory enhancements". BTW, these type of muffler do tend to provide additional performance per the Butt Dyno; but wanting it quiet AND a Butt Dyno increase are mutually exclusive concepts.

I will never do a muffler or exhaust swap on my truck again. Every truck I've had I've put some sort of a performance exhaust on, and every single one has given me problems at some point. Drone, broke hangers, the list goes on and on. One of the big perks of buying my ram was the factory dual exhaust with the bumper cut out. Absolutely love the looks, sound wise I'm good with a nice quite ride (although they growl a little from behind), and the factory stuff outlasts the aftermarket 99% of the time. I absolutely will not touch the exhaust. If I want a noisy performance exhaust sound I'll hop in my Buick. I like my Ram just fine nice and quiet!!

Damn, I must be getting old....

Ha! I feel the same way. When I listen to my stock exhaust now I think man that sounds really good. I'm definitely getting old.

Sound is in the ear of the beholder. Yep, I'm getting old too and kick my butt for even trying to switch out the muffler. And I certainly didn't need any extra noise and the Solo Mach 44 gave a ton of it. Stock exhaust system will stay as long as I own the truck!

You could try changing to the sport factory muffler. It sounds slightly different and a little throatier than the standard Hemi muffler.

If you want a little more "bark" (aka auditory noise enhancer).. why not leave stock exhaust alone and add S&B or other air intake.
