Mmmmm I love this. Might do it myself on my next oil change.

As for the pressure drop, I imagine it's extremely minimal. These lines don't appear to be a restriction at all. It actually has to restrict flow to cause pressure drop.

Yeah defiantly on the to do list.

The 13+ trucks with their electric steering. It ****** me off every time I change the filter oil gets all over the steering rack.

As far as oil pressure my 13 has much higher oil pressure all around compared to my 09 Hemi.

Thanks Charon!

It's one of those mods I've thought of just about every time I'm under there taking an oil bath, but soon forgotten as I come up with different ways to keep myself clean(er).

Sure could be a time/mess saver!!!!

Biggest benefit I see to this is a larger range of filters other than the 10 micron K&N filters. Might have to add this to the list of weekend projects.

What kinda of like is that, that you used? looks like a synthetic wrap or is it a nylon woven line?

Got the double filter kit for $80 on summit. Figured it was worth it for $10 more. Ordered four 90 degree -10AN fittings along with four -10AN to 1/2" NPT adapters. Total for everything was $170.

OK so I have to ask what the heck is a Fumoto oil drain valve? As usual there seems to be a needed piece of info missing on this. I have seen this install before with no mention of a Fumoto oil drain valve.
Also does this use a standard Mopar/Ford full size filter?
I'm interested in this because it did make a nasty mess to change oil but we need full disclosure here so us people that can't afford to buy a new engine for our truck get it right the first time.

I got the wrap from Hose Candy, it's a synthetic wrap that has a much higher temp capacity than standard nylon tech flex. I've had the Hose Candy wrap touching the header before and it didn't melt through.

I thought about the double kit, but decided against it, didn't think I needed the added filtration. Good price for all the fittings and the kit.

Fumoto valves are a great tool, able to do the oil change without tools and I got the one with the 90 degree fitting so it will drain straight down and there's no arc to the fluid. It comes out a bit slower with the 90 but it's a lot cleaner.

The kit uses a 3/4"-16 oil filter, lots of them are available, I listed the RP filter I use because it's actually one of the highest flowing and best filtering based on many filter being cut open for inspection.

Might pick up a Fumoto valve. That's something I can get at Autozone or a parts store though, right?

I figure on the double filter I may not always replace the second filter depending on how it looks after my first change with it.

Alright, so finished up the oil filter relocation kit, I was getting angry about getting oil all over my rack and front cross member every time I change the oil, the filter's also a PITA to get to so I wanted an easier place to get at. I know there's lots of tricks to getting the filter off without any mess but the location is still a PITA and I change the oil very regularly with my setup so I want simple and easy. It was pretty straightforward to install, tool requirements were very minimal: a drill, 5/16 drill bit, ratchet with socket (or flat head screwdriver bit), and a crescent wrench (or proper sized box-end).

I used the Tansdapt 1127 remote filter kit, it's not listed for the Ram, but the filter kit works perfectly since we have a 22mm x 1.5 thread pitch with a 2 1/2" ID filter flange. I got my kit from Jegs for $70, very reasonable price I think.

IMG_0684_zpsnplqplpk.jpg

Now, the kit comes with all the hoses and fittings to install everything except the teflon tape for the threaded fittings. Since I'm a stickler for how it looks as well as how it functions, I changed out the brass fittings for some 90 deg -10AN fittings and some Hose Candy hose wrap to clean it up for a better looking install. If you don't care about looks as much, the install is the exact same, just use the supplied brass fittings instead of the -AN fittings.

IMG_0683_zpsrhkdsyuh.jpg

I installed the remote filter base vertically on the passenger's side inner frame rail but it can be installed horizontally as well with no issues if you want a cleaner install with the brass fittings. I made a paper template of the filter holes and transferred it onto the frame rail then drilled the 5/16" holes and used the ratchet to tighten it to the frame using the supplied screws. I tightened the 1/2" NPT to -10AN fittings into place before installation because of how close I wanted it to the radiator. 90 deg fittings in place just for clearance testing

IMG_0672_zpsh3grbwzo.jpg

Then I installed the filter by-pass base onto the block's oil filter mount. This just threads into place, the instructions say that if it doesn't thread on all the way that a few threads will need to be cut off the factory nipple, but this wasn't required. They say to just tighten it as a normal oil filter, but I did take my filter wrench to it to get it the last full turn since there's less to grab compared to a normal filter.

Both the bypass base and the remote base are labelled for the hoses IN/OUT so it's not hard to set it up, but I still managed to do screw it up the first time.

IMG_0671_zpsnrtnbqms.jpg

I attached one set of fittings to one end of the supplied hoses, I then attached the hoses to the bypass base and laid them out to get the proper length, marked them and cut them. I then installed the hose wrap and the other set of fittings.

IMG_0673_zpsb7gzvgow.jpg

Install the OUT hose from the bypass base to the IN on the remote base, and the OUT from the remote base to the IN on the bypass base. So easy I managed to screw it up, I know.

IMG_0682_zpsq9anv3pa.jpg

After all is said and done, I installed a new RP oil filter. It should be noted that the remote base does not use the standard Dodge 22mm x 1.5 oil filter, it uses the more common 3/4"-16 filters which happen to be cheaper too.

IMG_0680_zpszhldfsfk.jpg

Once it was all installed, I fired up the truck, had zero oil pressure because I'm an idiot. Swapped the hoses on the remote filter base and retried, oil pressure jumped right up and all was good with the world. Once I shut it down after running for a while, I checked for leaks, had none, topped up the engine oil as required. My oil changes will now need 7-8 quarts instead of the normal 7 to account for the additional hoses and filter volumes.

Real nice job man! Could you post a link to the fittings and hoses you bought? I really like the look of them and I can't seem to find anything like them when I google search it. I'm not sure if it's something I can pick up at the parts store either?

.

I ordered online. (Amazon) Might be able to special order at a local parts store,,,

Part #F-106 for the plain valve. I have F-106N which has the straight nipple.

Slip hose on nipple. Place other end in recycle container. Turn valve. ZERO mess.

No mess, no tools required.

Is this suppose to be the Fumoto thing, if so what exactly do you need that for?
I see no use for it.

I will be doing this very shortly, I like the idea of having a real full size oil filter, seems odd to have a 7 quart oiling system and a filter about as big as my coffee pot.

I used the hoses that came with the kit, they are just wrapped in the heater hose wrap from Hose Candy. The fittings are -10AN hose ends I had left over from past projects but can be found from Jegs, Summit, or any local performance shop, these won't be found at normal parts stores.

The stock filter is quite capable of handling the engine's needs and the filter I replaced it with is only marginally larger and not the reason I did this swap.

Looks like the way everything is mounted, that the new oil filter base is higher than the oil filter **** on the engine, which would counter any syphon effect. I wonder, will this trap old oil in those new lines when doing an oil change..?

The new filter and hoses are below the oem filter location by 1-2" with the way I have it set up.
