S&B intake

Ok, I need some real world reviews of the s&b intake from forum members. Just about to pull the trigger but i need someone to say it's worth it. I currently have a k&n drop in but I think the s&b, of all intakes, will do better then stock.

I got the S&B and like it. Install was pretty straightforward and it helped a bit on initial pickup power that I had lost with the bigger rims/tires. Will it make a world of difference? Not really. Does it have a very noticeable sound change? Again, not really but you can hear it when jumping on the throttle. I am not too happy with the plexiglass cover they provided so I will probably make my own better fitting cover but it's not terrible and in no way do I consider it ******...I'm just picky lol.

Do I regret buying it? Not at all! I do like the 2 ways it brings in cold air. The overall construction is very nice.

If you do want some noticeable difference in throttle response, check out the Pedal Commander thread! That thing will put a smile on your face every time you push down on the gas pedal lol.

I'll have to agree with the above poster and his review is spot on.

Although I'll touch base on a few things:
The plexiglass cover does fit correctly if installed properly. "Star pattern" tightening is required as long as it's not over tightened. It WILL bow if tighten too much.
At least, this is from MY kit and three others I've installed/seen.
The rubber gaskets should be Just pinched and not flattened.

The sound, where it is not a night and day difference, it brings the surround sound of Hemi and your exhaust together whereas before it was either heard from the front or the rear when throttle was applied. The sound is really noticeable after 3500 and more at part throttle/under load. Not obnoxious at all, just right.

The performance increase is worth noticing if you are realistic. Not going to be earth shattering but just enough extra kick to feel it and smooth out those little "rough" spots from before.

As far as gas mileage. It's subjective and too many factors affect it. I have a 16 Ram a Sport CC with 3.92s and I live in Missouri; 89 oct and mostly city driving. I get about out 16.5-17. I driving somewhat spirited but casual normally. Since I've added the S&B, catch can and my black widow 300 muffler I went from 15.2-15.5 to 16.5-17. Same driving habits, location and fuel.

So take it with a grain of salt.

The quality is great, a true definition of the meaning, you get what you pay for.
Hope this helps.

EDIT: some advice, put some blue thread locker on the bolts that secure the lid down.

I like my S&B,. I would say you have to run a tune to really get any kind of noticable benefit from it. And for the box cover not fitting the best I did put some of that spongy tape around the top to help with the small gaps. Would buy again if was looking for an intake.

I went with the S&B based on the quality design and how it pulls its air. Its not a typical "CAI" that sucks in hot engine compartment air.

It's worth it. Just the way it looks over factory is worth the price of admission.

Thanks for the input fellas. I do like the look a lot. And even if the gains are small I think it will perform better than what I have. Should pair well with the Maggy. Pulling the trigger.
